Walked Out

This movie was a little like seeing your neighbor's kindergartner's recital. The proud parent enjoys every minute, but any another person would only stay, smile and nod if the parent were a close friend sitting in the next seat.

The film is a sorry star-vehicle for the lead actress, Tanya Frederick. Perhaps Irene Jensen's character might have been tolerable, if only she were a star, or if Harriet Schock had less treacly lyrics and didn't have such overly-sentimental singing style.

The film fails to explore the relationships between women and their fathers, instead focusing on superficial conclusions and sappy constructs of child-parent connection. It tries to make up for its hetro-focus by providing an unconvincing, man-kissing lesbian.

Mostly though, if the dialogue was not laden with grown women referring to their fathers as, "daddy," and Irene Jensen hadn't cried saying she'd never find a man like her father to cut bananas into rounds for her cereal....well, then I wouldn't have walked out.

Walked out? I actually fell asleep about 35 to 40 minutes into it. No matter how much I forced myself to pay attention to it and to stay awake to the endless dialogue of talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk.......

That's the theme with all of Henry Jaglom's movies. Two characters sitting side by side, facing each other, and talking endlessly about any topic of life in general, to this theme is reguarding the relationship between daughters and fathers. I now know that this is not my cup of tea.

I'm going to back to watching mindless action and thriller flicks rather than watching mindless drama talky flicks like this. At least then, I will not fall alseep.

I can understand a lover of Hitler not enjoying this film. POE.

Nothing is more beautiful than Oscar Homolka.
