dissapointed....

I was such a big fan of the brothers in arms series, i used to be on the boards all the time. But it seems like brothers in arms
has lost its charm. in my opinion, the new game......just didn't feel like a brothers in arms game. I don't know, but, it felt real
cheesy with a lot of corny lines and, i was just dissapointed overall

Thoughts?

Yes the writing (in terms of dialogue) is dire, and the events leading to Franky's death were just absurd. Some of the cut scene animations are laughable and the whole storyline with Corrion being mardy as hech to the point of being an unreasonable douchebag is... well ridiculous. Many soldiers refused promotions because they felt they'd have a better chance of surviving the war in a lower rank. Many soldiers didn't want the responsibility of being a higher rank. Generally speaking the soldiers didn't care about promotions, because their primary aim was to stay alive. So yeah the whole thing with Corrion was pathetic, more like something in a Mafia film (Soldier getting frustrated about constantly being passed over for Capo), or like something in a film about a big business corporation or something (businessman getting frustrated about constantly being passed over for the big promotion).

But... so what? The gameplay is the best I've ever come across in a war video game. It's fantastically tactical. You can actually take cover and use surroundings as cover, unlike the awful gameplay of COD and Medal of Honor. I'm annoyed because this is the only WWII video game that really satisfies me in terms of the combat simulation. Who cares about the story? I did when I first played Hell's Highway, so I bought Road to Hill 30 so that I could play the Normandy campaign and experience that story first hand - I couldn't physically play it because it was so bad - dated as f... Poor game compared to this.
