why the title change?

The French title means "Horse Thieves", not "In the Arms of My Enemy". Why the sentimental, slightly silly title change?

reply

Because "Picture This!" released the DVD in the USA and they almost always re-title their foreign films with cheesy, exploitative names.

Previous Picture This! re-titles include:

The Greek drama "Oxygen" became "Blackmail Boy"

The German film "Verfolgt" (original english title "Hounded") became "Punish Me".

You're so right! 'Presque Rien' ('Next to Nothing') became - wait for it - 'Come Undone' !? (And the DVD has embedded subtitles that intrude on much of the image - for those of us who can understand a bit of French dialogue, wouldn't removable titles have been possible?) You're correct bahamamama, Picture This! do treat their movies very ineptly.

Of course, it ridiculous marketing. But, seriously--which would you likely rent (without knowing much--of anything--about the story):

"Horse Thieves" or "Arms of My Enemy", lol.

Picture This! is only maximizing on their investment when they change titles and market to a certain niche movie audience (read: gay).

P.S. There's no excuse for intrusive hardcoded subs, lol.
