What is Stephane's secret? Why is he obsessed by the couple with a baby? Is the baby his?
shareI thought it was obvious that he was although I was expecting something more. He has the phone number so he knows the girl, the rest you could see coming from a mile away
shareHis was the only storyline in the film that I didn't like. We know he's the baby's father, but what happened with him and the mother? Maybe he raped her, or maybe they were a couple and he abandoned her when she became pregnant--we're never told.
I found this irritating in an otherwise decent film about relationships and loneliness.

Totally agree, my first reaction was rape as well!

He had simply taken off for Paris two years earlier upon learning his girlfriend was pregnant. His torment was that while he did want to see his baby his abandonment of the girl and unborn child meant he didn't have the guts to simply aproach them. He knew the lady would go nuts at him - and he is a coward, proven again when he leaves the town once more at the end. This situation to me felt clear.
His actions in the film, however, were silly and unrealistic. I realise he opted to simply find a way into the house while the mother of his child was out, via his finessing a friendship with the guy - but meh, frustrating plot. Would help if Stephane would say more than two words ><
