The Stepfather (2009)

Why do these types of thrillers need to be so... weak? Clichés, clichés. clichés, and not the fun type of clichés. The script is so thin, so weak, the film has no blood or anything. Yes, the film does entertain a bit, but to me these types of films always leave something for me to see. This could have been a really good horror film though if it was done a lot more effectively and dramatically. The only good performer here is Dylan Walsh, and he barely was able to work because the script gave him almost nothing. He played the one-note character very well though and I think he is the reason it at least entertained me. But still, why can't writers and directors make something a little more ambitious? I can't imagine ANYONE loving this film because even horrors fans will be disappointed.
