A remake of the first two films combined? *spoilers*

I'm not sure how many of you have seen or even remember the sequel to the original movie, "Stepfather 2: Make Room For Daddy", but has anyone else noticed that this remake is almost a remake of BOTH movies?

I say this because, in Stepfather 2, there was a son, not a daughter. Also, there was an ex husband who was killed and the son was disappointed with his father, much like the son in the remake.

Also, when the best friend in Stepfather 2 investigates him, she finds out from a class photo the man he's pretending to be is actually a black man, which he clearly is not - much like in this film when the ex husband mentions how he looked up the name at the school he said he went to and mentions that the only possible person "is too dark to be him" or something along those lines.

While I noticed a lot of nods to the original, I also noticed a lot of nods to the sequel as well. Though, I can't say I noticed anything similar to Stepfather III in the remake, would have been cool if they showed homage to the entire trilogy.

I've actually never seen any of the original sequels. So I find this interesting. You'd think we would've gotten a sequel to this by now. Guess it didn't do good.

That doesn't make sense. Original sequels? There is only one original, which was the one made in 1989. That had a sequel and this one is a remake.

The original was actually released in 1987 (made in 1986 ).

its been a long time and I still have to rewatch the original sequel. this remake would have been better if not rated pg 13

I think I found a reference to the third movie. It's been a while since I watched it, but the son looked up Americas Most Wanted and found the police sketch. Just like the son in this one :)
