They look pretty mature for 12 year olds
I think the cast is gorgeous, but they look kinda old to play 12 year olds.
Whoa they were supposed to be 12? 16 17 yes.

I thought Percy was meant to be around 18, and the others 16/17 in age. lol
shareIn the first book they are 12 years old, but the movie changed that and made them 15-16, which is imo a better choice, while reading the book I could never imagine them so young
shareI couldn't imagine them 12 in the books either. I just reread them because I was using them with a class and they get too kissy and too jealous and too serious too young to start off as 12. I wish they had kept going with these films.

shareEh, I don’t know. Back when I was a kid, at around the 12-13 year-old range, I remember starting to get into the kissy and jealous stuff. Other kids were like that too.
Harry Potter was more stereotypical and innocent with its portrayal of kids, and how people think they behave, and that’s fine. But Percy Jackson seemed more… realistic, with how kids are, or can be.
Target audience for the movies is obviously an older market. Late teens spend more than 12 or 13 year olds do.
