am i missing something??
Since when is 16 considered a legal adult?? That's what Josiah says when he cons charlotte back, promising that she will be allowed to marry Jamie. THe mother says something about them being children or minors, or such (cant remember the exact wording). And Josiah says, "Charlotte's not; she's sixteen." Didn't make sense that Charlotte didn't require her mom to give consent when she was only sixteen, and Josiah was only her stepfather,(I don't remember if he had legally adopted her or not, don't believe so). This dialogue made it seem like she was a legal adult. Has sixteen become the new eighteen in some circles???
