A sick piece of propoganda by liberal Hollywood

Designed to turn the impressionable public against God's flock. The events portrayed in this trash are 100% propoganda, I have written the creators of this filth and let them know this.

"normal" mormons are ok...FLDS are just monsters....

LOL! So you actually believe that "plural marriages" should be allowed and that the females involved can be as young as 12? Would you mind sending me your address? I know a couple of federal agencies that would just love to meet you.

Sects like this exist and are in the news more and more often. When religion tramples on the rights of the individuals, the legal agencies must take action. Children must be protected.

reply

You know, I find it really interesting how practically no one bats an eyelash at single men and women sleeping with multiple partners. But when some people decide that they want to make their love for each other legal, and happen to want more than one wife (or husband, if there are any out there that do that), everyone screams at the top of their lungs that it's wrong and immoral, etc. So, it's not immoral or wrong for single people to sleep with anyone under the sun? Kind of hypocritical, don't you all think?

And no, I am not Mormon, so I'm not part of a multiple marriage. I just choose not to sit in judgement of those who choose to live that way.

Now, the children under the age of 18 being married off, that's another story altogether, and that should be stopped.

reply

"Make their love for each other legal."

I doubt that any 14 year old girl is truly in love with a filthy old man.

reply

The argument you make is interesting. But I find it odd that all these women want to share a single man, especially one often so much older than they are. If there was some female equivalent (multiple men married to one woman), I'd have fewer problems with this "lifestyle."

As it is, this seems very patriarchal and beneficial to the male. That "make their love for each other legal" line is great. So why don't six men marry one woman and take care of her?

RE: >>no one bats an eyelash at single men and women sleeping with multiple partners.<<

Men and women who are single have not made a legal commitment not to, that's the difference. Each one of us starts out single by default, but marital commitment is an individual choice

the concept of "adultery" only applies if at least one of the consensual adults is married. other than that it's fornication something many individuals of various religious beliefs willingly rationalize until they themselves marry, then they insist one must "wait"

Just like male leaders in patriarchal religions insist multiple wives is "best"

reply

These "religions" are not about adults in multiple marriages. They are about forcing children as young as twelve into marriages with adult perverts.

reply

What country are you talking about? Isreal? There is no such country is as "isreal". If you can't spell the name of your own country, you have no business telling other people how to use it.

reply

No doubt the writers are crying in their beer over you writing them about it and calling it "filth"...it's based on a true story, I don't know if right wing religious whakos such as yourself are much into reading (obviously you haven't read the bible) but there is a book based on the same thing that is straight auto biographical. Not that it matters whether or not you care to live in the real world anyway...no one cares what you think.

reply

No one cares about your opinion. I'm glad God will deal with you.

reply

GOD. DOES. NOT. EXIST.

Grow up.

And no - he's not going to *deal* with me, no matter how much you (and all the other brainwashed mouth-breathers) think he will.

hahahahahaha

I'm so not a liberal and I can't stand what this particular religion stands for - its all for the men and the hell w/the women in the compound. Alice nearly got raped, and the step-father banishes the wife; what was the punishment of the creep who tried to rape a 11 year old little girl? NOTHING; also Judith finds out when she leaves that the Josiah has plans for Alice whose barely 12 year old child to get married to some older man -- how sick is that !!! Charolette worked my nerves - no way was Josiah and the Prophet going to let her marry that young man she liked; the mother tells her this yet she still runs back there...

reply

Not only that but just being an annoying twit almost from the time she left! She was going to hop into a car with that stranger. What was her guarantee he was really going in that direction, and would do what he said? Purposely humming that song just to annoy the mother?

Then instead of telling her boyfriend they could meet some place, she leads her step-father right to them, not caring what it could do to everyone else.

I wish the mother had just left her there to be married to the stepfather.

reply

Completely agree with you, Idddhunter! I'm very conservative and a Christian, and it amazes me how some people want to rationalize these horrible cults and act as if people are against God if they disagree with the immoral acts of these men. Completely ridiculous!

reply

As for life in these cults...

I wouldn't even really care about polygamy IF it was only marriage after the age of 18...and the females having the option to say yes or no to the man they are "assigned" to marry. Or allowing them to choose (as Charlotte and Jaime want to marry in this movie).

But a girl as young as 14 (was her name Faye?) marrying that guy who was at least in his fifties? And even younger, when the profit was going to take 12-year-old Alice and force her to marry? That is just sick.
