Great Movie!

Just saw Hank and Mike in a screening at the Victoria Film Festival.

Like most people, the premise of the movie sounded kind of dumb to me. It was hard to imagine what an 82 minute movie would have to show about 2 Easter bunnies. Plus, I'm just as tired as the next person of all the lame comedies out there.

Well, was I ever blown away by Hank and Mike. This movie is definitely up top as an incredibly funny and uniquely dark comedy! From the very opening scene to the credits, the entire theatre was filled with laughter. The plot behind this movie makes for a comedy like you've never seen before. The acting, the story, and the characters were surprisingly excellent. I will admit that the movie had a couple of weak and/or strange moments, but those were minimal. I would consider the majority of the film to be a classic.

This is a must see! Don't let those people who haven't even seen it discourage you.

I give this movie a personal 8.1/10 and highly recommend it. I will look forward to seeing it go beyond the film fest variety.

I gave it 10/10

it was pure genius, I couldn't believe what I was watching. Best low budget type film ever made, I loved every second of this, half way thru I texted everyone I knew and told them they had to see it. Definitely a future cult classic, whatever that means.

This film wasnt rubbish but to give it anything above 6/10 is just mad. The plot moves on at a snails pace and the whole bunny costume thing gets boring after 30mins. Yeah its orginal but thats about all its got going for it.

reply

I disagree, the bunny suits and the whole premise got old really fast and the story was so weak and unbelievable it made the whole movie completely boring to watch. It was so excruciatingly bad I don't even know where to start criticizing it. I was falling asleep within the first 30 minutes of the movie so eventually I just groaned and turned it off. This movie is a lame one trick pony and I'm glad I didn't pay to see it.

This is probably the worst film I have ever seen. I wouldn't have thought that a movie featuring cute pink bunnies could be so offensive. But I was wrong!!!! Just putrid!!!

Yeah I was disapointed as well. I believe that if they got some good actors they could have just turned the film around..

Think about Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey in this film :D the return of a hilarious Dumb and Dumber :P These actors, on the other hand, were just.. sad.. I watched it till the end just because I hoped they would turn this film around at some point and actually become a comedy because the script was indeed great and as others have said before, it had a truly original ideea.. too bad it got wasted like this.

I like Dumb and Dumber as much as the next guy, but if you really think that Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey should have replaced the leads in this film, you clearly didn't get the tone they were going for. It was supposed to be dark and sad, that is where the comedy lies.
The tone is very similar to a lot of other Canadian dark comedies, which is probably why I love it so much.

'Cause we all end up in a tiny pine box, A mighty small drop in a mighty dark plot.

Yeah, I can see how you people could miss alot of the humor. It's a bit advanced for the dulled down average grey's anatomy type viewer. The whole movie was completely entertaining, when the guy is banging the chick and his roommate walks in and he points to her ass, as if to say, 'wanna join?' I about died, that was hilarious. The whole movie was like that, but I can see why people wouldn't like it, it's not like it's predictable and millions went into the budget.

Which movie or movies would you say has/have a comparable comedic sensibility? I'm a big fan of off kilter quirky little comedies, especially the films of Todd Solondz, Wes Anderson and Jud Apatow (however you spell those names. Alas, I am too lazy to look them up.)
