Noticed something awesome while playing

Whenever you are in the dark without your flashlight, I want you to walk up the Alyx really close (you'll be able to find out where she is by the light in her corneas). You can actually hear her breathe through her nose! It's those little details that I absolutely love that make video games like Half-Life II Episode I truly awesome.

Also, something that I think pretty much anyone knows which is awesome is that if you shine your flashlight on Alyx in the dark, she scrunches up her face and tries to block the light with her hand. But what's interesting is that she ONLY does that in pitch black areas. If there's some light in the room and you shine it on her face, she won't do anything. At first I thought that the game developers forgot to incorporate that, but then I realized that, like in real life, you won't really be blinded by a flashlight if there is another light source in the room.

That's pretty incredible. I'm gonna try and find other little details when I play the game, as well as playing the previous Half-Life II game. I'll post them if I find any.

wow, i had no idea bought the breathing thing. Thats awsome. But yeah, the developers went throguh a lot of work to make this game great, and the littelest things make the experience even more amazing.

while these are from the lost coast, i still think its pretty cool:

at the beginning before the fisherman talks to you, instead of approaching him you can check out the area and he'll comment on it and talks about how most crabs have been eaten by leeches, and if you shoot a seagull he yells at you since there are too many extinct species already.

if you use the zoom feature while fighting the hunter chopper at the end and look down (i wouldnt have noticed this if my hand didn't slip) you can see the fisherman watching you fight it, and my memory's a bit shaky but i think he had his hat off and in his hands- he's bald.

If you think things like this is cool, you should play the Metal Gear Solid series, as Hideo Kojima is a master of putting small "secrets" like this in his games.

I notied the flashlight one, I'll check the nose-sound once I've completed Episode Two! Thanks for the tip

I'm norwegian, so you'll have to live with my english.

Kojima is a master of putting silly things that have no bearing on the gameplay in his games.

And the MGS games really are the antithesis of Half-Life. Annoying cutscenes always stopping the action. Yeah, it makes sense that if someone calls you in the middle of a firefight, the enemies will stop firing at you while you finish your ten minute long conversation.

MGS er møkk.

Amen to that. It was the only thing that bugged me about MGS, but it was a biggy all the same.

I didn't mind the cutscenes, gave me time to eat whilst I watched them. I'll check out the breathing thing since I'm currently in a dark area, and I'll do the torch thing as well.
Personally I loved the attention to detail during the monorail trip through the big tower, there was so much going on you'd have to go through it several times to see everything, and it was so huge and still no corridor was the same or scene was copied, it was just so vast and indepth it kinda puts you in awe.
