Father Tom Doyle is a hero

I am a huge opponent of organised religion. I despise most of what the Roman Catholic stands for, and the fact that they control so many people with their irrational fairy tales about their big invisible friend in the sky.

What is appalling is that it needs a whistleblower like Tom Doyle to reveal much of the corporate malfeasance that the Catholic church is engaged in, especially from an organisation, that if it were a normal corporate entity which had child care as part of its core services, were exposed to have the extent of child abuse, and direct evidence of corporate cover-ups would have been shut down either due to bankruptcy from law suits or by the regulators of the child care industry. But because they are a "religion" this some how means that the church is given a free pass from the authorities.

This comes from an organisation whose leader sets himself up as the supreme moral authority on earth, the same guy who wrote a papal instruction to every bishop in the church, when he was the previous Pope's Head Inquistor detailing how child abuse scandals were to be dealt with, and threatening ex-communication to anyone who spoke about this outside of the church.

The reason given why Bradly Armoured Vehicles were used in Waco by the ATF and FBI to breach the compound where the Branch Davidians were holed up was that there were allegations of child abuse, which were subsequently found to be completely without foundation. Not a single one of the children interviewed from there made a single allegation, nor did they provide any testimony which gave a single piece of evidence that child abuse was taking place, but the FBI were prepared to risk their lives by assaulting a compound know to have armed people inside on the basis of spurious accusations, and yet not a single front door of a Roman Catholic church has been knocked despite PROVEN allegations of paedophilia and child abuse.

This shows a complete double standard when dealing with large Christian organisations with enormous resources. You can bet your mortgage on the fact that if a single allegation was made against a Muslim Iman, or a Rabbi, or a child care organisation their mosque, synagogue or child care centre would have their down bashed down quicker than it takes a Bush to invade Iraq.
