I watched this for the third time yesterday - it's been hard for me to digest in very few viewings.

I'm convince O'Grady is vapid. Not smug - vapid. He'd have to possess some sense of reality to be smug.

Writing to and inviting his victims to come for a personal apology?! This clearly best indicates his complete disconnect with reality. He's been sheltered and protected - he's clearly been challenged and supported to into LA LA (pun intended) LAND.

He supposes "... babble... babble... won't start with a prayer... babble... perhaps a hand-shake and they'll certainly feel better."

I suppose his victims would come for the visit and before anyone could meet with him, one of his victims would cut off O'Grady's genitals, stuff them into his de-frocked diassociated mouth, decapitate him, then impale his head and post it in the front yard of the property he inhabited.

My prediction may be as exaggerated as his, but mine is rooted in reality and far more likely.

You know its inetresting. I read article and saw small clips of men like this on the news... but watching him just talk about it with this fake sense of "oops?" just baffled me.

There was barely any remorse.... and i watched it twice.... i couldnt fathom how he could do these things and just be like "its a shame it happened :( "

O'Grady is a sociopath. They don't feel empathy, remorse, guilt, fear or anything like that because certain parts of the brain aren't connected properly. About 1-2% of the population is sociopathic.

The word 'sociopath' gets thrown around a lot. But if you want to see a true sociopath look up the BTK killer or O'Grady from this film. They have no guilt or shame whatsoever.

Agree with the above posts, and wanted to add, it does not take a professional to see that this man is dangerous. Rehabilitation? No way in hell. He laughs throughout the film at questions like "are you attracted to young children, with their clothes off, etc." This man (use the word lightly) is so effed up he can't even resist showing pleasure when most people are disgusted at his remarks, his existence. He doesn't even fake it, like a con before a parole board saying he needs help, there's something wrong with him. This guy is so dangerous inherently, and the fact he has been protected and supported financially has added to the danger. 7 years or 70 years in prison wouldn't help, imo. Chemical Castration, maybe thats the answer. MY BIG BIG question, aside from covering it up for their own image, why would the church want these people to remain in the church. Why not after the first allegations, defrock the priest quietly, give him the pension and get him away from the church. It seems like they want to shuffle these people around within the church. Aren't they disgusted dealing with these people?

Indeed. And his little plan to have the victims come visit him now and go into lengthy detail about what he did to them was even creepier. You know he just wants to get off to what they're saying.

Just watched and fully agree. I don't know if his attitude is smug, vapid, disassociated, sociopathic or (probably) all of the above but it was horrific to watch him. The victims who received the letter correctly figured out that this was just another way for him to get off, to have his flock together and to re-live the experience while claiming that it was for the benefit of the victims. It is just like any serial killer or rapist who takes trophies so he can re-live the experience over and over again.

What grossed me out, actually made me physically sick was the fact that he was walking around an effing park, leering at children like they were delicious little treats. Yuck.

As everyone else has already stated...the guy is one sick sociopath, with no remorse whatsoever. He's calculating, disgusting, and as close to pure evil as I'd ever want to see. I don't even think Hannibal Lechter at his worst was ever as sick as this P.O.S. Grady. And if it's possible, the higher ups (or lower downs, depending on one's perspective) who covered for him are even worse.
