the BIGGEST irony is this:

I am not an avid student of religion but I am almost certain that according to the canon of pretty much any christian type religion including Catholicism if a person permanently renounces the faith and rejects the church that person, unless they repent and rejoin the church and reaccept the faith that person will upon the end of their life be sent to hell where their eternal soul is tortured forever.

Also, I believe according to the Catholic belief system any sin is forgivable if you pray enough and beg god for forgiveness. So that means this:

The priests who rape and otherwise sexually abuse the children have a chance to REPENT and beg forgiveness and save their souls but almost all of the victims of abuse will for obvious reasons renounce their faith and leave the church thus according to the canon of the church will be in danger of hell.

So according to the canon of the religion the rapist/priests are MORE likely to avoid hell and end up in heaven than the children they raped?

can you imagine how screwed that is? rapist priests up in heaven while their victims burn in hell?

my friends and i used to joke about this , just do all the evil you can and repent at your final moment for that key to his grace.

i was 12 and i already know the christians teaching and bible are loads of crap. i still believe that a higher entity exist but religion to me is the same as any money scamming corporation.

I think the Catholic clergy has always been a haven for people who have something wrong with them, at best, incompetent, at worst, corrupt exploiters. The original hierarchy became increasingly perverted over the centuries.

The pedophile priest who repents has to be sincere. He has to truly regret that he did that to a child. How do you know if he's sincere? I would never take his word for it.
