TV??? That horrible. I want to see this!

You mean to tell me the great cinematographer Vittorio Storaro is photographing a film on his idol, Caravaggio, and it's for the small screen? What the hell???? This is really depressing. I don't know who made this call, but it's horrible. ORRENDO!!!

As the producer Ida Di Benedetto has explained, there will be two version of this movie: one for Italian tv, longer, and one for cinema (also international), shorter.Anyway I don't know when it will be released.

don't go out of orbit on us, just saw the film...and it is a film, actually in storar's signature univisium (natural 2.0:1 aspect ratio) format with which he would like to bridge the big to small screen format gap. the fact that it had RAI, the italian state tv, behind it, means it always was intended for the small screen, but just as much for theatrical release, with storaro attached it couldn't be otherwise.

this is indeed a "film", one that storaro has been planning since his mid-twenties. it deserved at least the type of multi-faceted production attention and skill that made this modestly budgeted italian film possible. however, even storaro, dispite all the kudos he may have earned in the past, cannot assume the big train will roll into the station just when he asks it to. he jumped on possibly the one solid chance he had to do this once and for all, and at home, towards the late middle to end of his great career. (other directors, i.e. martin scorsese, left it just as long if not longer, had five times the prod. budget, and still effed it up royally - gangs of new york - IMHO).

if there is one thing i can say about the film here, it would be that it has more storaro's mark on it than almost any other player, including director and lead actor.
