The main problem with the movie: Does any of this matter?

While I liked the fact that the movie advanced the storyline of Jack Bauer, it really bothered me that we had all these new characters and we didn't know which ones were relevant to the seventh season and which were just throwaway characters.

When in a regular season there's this feeling of everything being connected, in the movie one could only wonder how much of it all really mattered in the big picture, especially those DC scenes with mostly unfamiliar faces we might or might not see again after the movie.

I think I will enjoy it a bit more now that I've seen the season.
