Something that concerns me...

I saw the pictures and vids on the web, and it brings up question. Everytime the main character becomes the Witchblade, it almost seems like their trying to portray her as some melon-chested psychopath! Is this true to the comics or is this something that animators did for no reason?

Watch it, there is more to it then that. Yes they give her huge boobs but she is no psychopath.

Melon chested psychopath,eh?

Sounds like my kind of girl.

old post but if anyone cares...
i never read the comic but they had the same way of making the character into a melon-chested psychopath as you say, so its true to the comic, and if you think about it, what good do clothes do you in battle if your basically a superweapon, all the important parts have armor on them so theres no need for more really, plus she gets 'pleasure' from fighting, so the less clothes the better id guess
they never turned her into a 'melon-chested psychopath' either, she already had a huge chest and she is only 'psychopathic' the first couple times she transforms, after that she has some more control, but no matter what the witchblade still makes her love to fight, which some may consider 'psychopathic

reply

Melon Chested Bare Assed Psychopath you mean

reply

Where have you been? There were big breasted super heroines in comics for as long as men have been drawing!

reply

I've realized that! But this version seems a bit stripper-esque to me.

I have no problem with the size of her chest. My concern is that lack of good discussions about the show for those of us who haven't read the manga.

reply

I find her lust for blood and battle more enticing than her physique.

The original Witchblade has a blood lust moment
but not to the extent that this Anime version portrays.
There are times when the Witchblade is uncontrollable, but the Welder seems to be in her right mind at this time.

Witchblade is an American created character by none other than artist/writer Marc Silvistri one of several talents who famously bailed out on Marvel comics at the cusp of the early 90s to form Image Comics. Well, as drawn by Silvistri the main character who inadvertently wields the ancient weapon device was drawn attractively but not with much liberty taken, however, other artists have taken their own approach.

Now, as for the animators and the director especially from Japan....it's been reconstituted in a much different vein and to respond to your intuitive-like concern, NO, it's not true to the American comic from whence it came from....the Japanese team had to have got the approval from the creator himself for any number of reasons, the animation house that Silvistri agreed to have his character be translated into animation form is probably a big name and may have been an honor and things of the sort.
