Maybe the weakest 'Best Foreign Language' Oscar winner

This is like a good TV movie from the 90s.
There's nothing artistic or daring about it.
Performances, cinematography, screenplay, editing. music - it's all average and conventional.

The subject is interesting, but it's not really groundbreaking or anything.
Worst of all is the boring direction by one of the most conventional Austrian filmmakers ever.
Ruzowitzky is no Michael Haneke, not even close.
Not one critic called this a masterpiece.
How did this film possibly win ?

This is no "Son of Saul".

I'm glad they changed the rules of the 'Best Foreign Language' Oscar after this:

Remember: The Palm d'Or winner "4 days, 3 months, 2 days" - a far superior film - wasn't even nominated
