Did we all watch the same film

I see all of this high praise on here for this crap of a movie.
I am really wondering what movie you guys were watching because this movie was a load of hot horse manure. Lower than hot horse manure for that matter.
The acting was horrendous. Don't get me started on that girl...where did they find her, the mall. Her emotions were so plastic, so contrived, so amateurish. Neither one of them could carry this movie alone or together.
I actually had to fast forward through it because I simply could not watch anymore of it.
Nine miles down is where this movie should be buried. Never to see the light of day or touch another screen again.

I disagree completely.

I also believe your idea of good acting differs immensely from mine.
I thought the acting of the girl was spot on. She had to give off mixed signals and did this convincingly. Some of her "contrived" (as you say) behaviour was obviously done to confuse the audience about her person and what we were to perceive as the reality in this movie.

I wish more movies like this would be made instead of the ones where action and CGI has to cover up shallow plot and bad acting.

I disagree with you completely. EVERYTHING about this movie was horrible. It is garbage.

reply

Yeah the acting was bad, but not that bad. Maybe I'm more used to low budget horror so that I'm used to see truly horrible acting.
I kinda liked the movie, it felt somewhat original.

you have to watch the top part, i'm absolutely convinced a part of every promotional budget is blogpost scam money. the breathless reporting from the grand opening in finland somewhere.imbd is a interesting site and i wouldn't waste any bandwidth before checking the reviews over here but i take everything with a large grain of salt.

While I believe you might be trolling, I'll reply nonetheless. I really liked the movie. If there was faulty acting, I'd rather put it on the guy with the laughing bits, though who knows, I've not been watching myself in situations when I was laughing of desperation, so might well be that's how it looks. To the whole acting/aesthetics - try silent hill 2 and 3 games. I believe there is much of aesthetic borrowing from both in the movie, which turns out supreme comparing to silent hill movie. No bad remarks on this one.

acting was quite good and the movie was ok; not something brilliant, but it surely worths a watch

reply

Didn't mind the movie at all. Better than a lot of mainstream movies I thought.
As far as the acting goes I have no complaints about the main characters, but the guy who played Alex (Arcadiy Golubovich) should never ever be allowed to act. I was surprised to see he had been in a few movies. I was sure he was the director's son or something like that. Atrocious acting. Just watch the last few minutes of the film and tell me that's acting.

I enjoyed this movie more than most low budget, B horror movies. A lot of psychological twists in this that keep you guessing who is telling the truth. It's definitely better than all of the aimless teen slashers and torture porn just for the sake of torture porn low budget flicks that are coming out these days. The acting was good enough to get the job done. Kate Nauta is really hot! Worth the watch alone.

I agree with the OP. That actress who played the lead (I don't even wanna look up her name) WAS HORRIBLE. She literally RUINED the move for me. Just like Malin Ackerman ruined The Watchmen for me. They must've gone to the same school of acting. EVERY line she delivered was so very unconvincing and lifeless just like Malin's performance.

I try not to believe in the Casting couch rumors but in those 2 cases, I'm gonna have to say SOMEBODY must really love their work BEHIND the scenes (no pun intended)

How come talentless waify Blondes ALWAYS get a pass in Hollywood, Music Biz (Taylor Swift), etc..cmon its 2010 already!

I think it was average... I have the feeling that this was a really good script (it has some great twists), but it turned in a very mediocore movie. Technically, it didn't look very well, the pace was way to slow and the acting wasn't great at all (even if I think that Adrian Paul tried his best, but he doesn't have the charisma the be an convincing leading man).
I think they failed to use the potential of the story.

First off, I agree w/ OP about the girl actor not being very good - LOL@the mall, but as the movie went on she got (marginally) better...

Which brings me to my second thought:

I feel it does a disservice to IMDB board readers and to yourself as a viewer(and just as a person who *hopefully does stuff) to write a critique on a film that you self admittedly didn't even watch.

Now you've wasted time *almost* watching a movie that was "lower than hot horse manure" and followed it up by wasting time starting a thread about it.

The film was far from perfect but at least it was original and entertaining which, for me, makes it above average in comparison to the loads of ish being churned out.

All of the people who were paid employees involved in creating this piece of garbage on wheels made sure they swung by IMDb to give it their support.
