Better than most direct-to-video thrillers

Writer had some nice ideas, maybe a little weak and meandering toward the end but not frustratingly so. Had me questioning whether I was over-thinking or under-thinking the plot at times so I suppose that's a good thing.

Director set a good mood, but couldn't sustain it throughout. I can see why they wanted John Carpenter to do this. It could have done well with a 'Ghosts of Mars' meets 'Prince of Darkness' vibe. A different score wouldn't hurt. The musical cues were a little bit typical.

Some uneven performances. The protagonist was excellent, the female lead was a little wooden but pulled it off for the most part. Some of the supporting cast seemed like they were people off the street, but their performances were brief.

Some great imagery, some cliche imagery. Well shot, did not appear cheaply done by any means.

Overall a decent rental if you can tolerate some imperfections.

Other relevant movies I've enjoyed - Anything by John Carpenter, Dead Birds, Sauna, Devil's Backbone, Dominion - Prequel to the Exorcist, Pandorum, The Changeling

I mostly agree to the OP.
The setting was not that good. It was too bright.
With a darker setting (maybe as a sci-fi on another, dark planet or on a spaceship) it would have been much better imo.

Agree. It was decent effort and decent movie worth watching, genuinely creepy atmosphere and nice idea. Of course many elements can be criticized, but for not too picky viewers it can be a fun movie.

Seriously, I enjoyed the film, kinda, the woman though, OMG her acting was atrocious, she should never be allowed to act in another film again. Some of Adrian Paul's scenes were kinda corny, but it is a straight to DVD movie, over all not too bad

I agree about the woman. I'm sorry, but nobody with an IQ in the double-digits can fake intelligence, even if they are a brilliant actress (which she most definitely is not). This girl mostly sounded like someone had helped her pronounce all the big words and she was slowly and carefully repeating them, very proud of every correct pronunciation.

Every time she was talking, I expected a doorbell to ring and a sexy pizza delivery man to enter and start taking off her clothes.

I swear in my next life I want to be a casting director. I could just paste a bunch of resumes on the wall, drink a fifth of vodka, blindfold myself, spin around, play "pin the tail on the donkey," and STILL come up with better casting than a lot of films.

Yeah I kind of feel the same way. It was something different and while it maybe had too many twists and turns for me overall I like what they were trying to do with this movie. It was worth watching to me but as for recommending it to someone else well not saying I would do that.
