The Most Canadian Movie Ever Made!
I am from Toronto, Ontario, Canada (The same place that Mike Myers is from). When I watched this movie I thought it was so funny (hear me out) because it reminded me of growing up in Toronto. From the wanting the Leafs to win The Stanley Cup to Justin Timberlake's French Canadian character to "Split the pickle-tickle tickle". Those are all Canadian or more in fact Torontonian references. Now I agree that the whole elephant thing was a bit over-the-top, but everything else was very much Canadian humor.
Have you ever watched Canadian movies on CBC, Global, or any other Canadian channel? It's an acquired taste.
Some how Mike Myers convinced American Movie Studios to pay millions of dollars for something that has a very small demographic: Torontonians.
If you are from Toronto, like I am, than you will probably find this movie funny.
But if you are not from Toronto, like everyone else in the world, you probably won't.
Jerry Seinfeld once said that "Mike Myers spoofs things that aren't American and gets away with it". Well, apparently he didn't get away with it this time...
