The Most Canadian Movie Ever Made!

I am from Toronto, Ontario, Canada (The same place that Mike Myers is from). When I watched this movie I thought it was so funny (hear me out) because it reminded me of growing up in Toronto. From the wanting the Leafs to win The Stanley Cup to Justin Timberlake's French Canadian character to "Split the pickle-tickle tickle". Those are all Canadian or more in fact Torontonian references. Now I agree that the whole elephant thing was a bit over-the-top, but everything else was very much Canadian humor.

Have you ever watched Canadian movies on CBC, Global, or any other Canadian channel? It's an acquired taste.

Some how Mike Myers convinced American Movie Studios to pay millions of dollars for something that has a very small demographic: Torontonians.

If you are from Toronto, like I am, than you will probably find this movie funny.
But if you are not from Toronto, like everyone else in the world, you probably won't.

Jerry Seinfeld once said that "Mike Myers spoofs things that aren't American and gets away with it". Well, apparently he didn't get away with it this time...

On second thought, "Canadian Bacon" and "Strange Brew" are more Canadian... and they're better too!

It was certainly bad enough to be made in Toronto, where all the other Canadian garbage is made.

IMDB lists 3297 movies filmed in Toronto, including Chicago, Xmen, Good Will Hunting, John Q, Moonstruck, all clearly garbage.

go crawl back into your cave and shut your piehole.

tihs movie was not funny in any way. I watched the first 10 minutes and i could tell that someone with a mind of a 10 year old piled this together.

You do realize that the link in your signature shows each person their own vote history, right?

Maybe it's from growing up four hours northeast of the OP but I really can't agree. Justin Timberlake's attempt at French Canadian wasn't remotely accurate enough to be funny, and ruined the Quebec pizza joke which I think you probably *do* have to be Canadian to get.

I don't think this is the most Canadian movie ever made, and I certainly hope it isn't. And my Torontonian cousin who was in it didn't even really like it when he saw it. That being said, Mike Myers is usually hilarious.

Being Canadian and from Toronto as well I thought the movie was friggen hilarious. It was so stupid it was funny. Non of it was meant to be taken seriously. Some of the lines in it were priceless.

I'm from Toronto, but I still thought it was awful. I really don't think that matters.

I'm watching it for the second time now on ch.308

Really unfunny movie. I'm Canadian and a Leafs fan (no, i'm from no where near Toronto) and it's nice to see them win the Cup since i doubt i'll see that in real life (sob) but the humour was almost all toilet humour. The premise makes for a movie that could be interesting and funny but they messed it up terribly.

I hope people from other countries don't think this is an example of Canadian humour. (a few more Canadian jokes sort of worked but they were buried under tons of other awful stuff) All the great comedians and comedic actors we've produced (and continue to produce) should speak for itself anyway, but still.

being a canadian from vancouver, the only thing i had to laugh over this movie was seeing the Leafs win the cup .... you know they will NEVER win it!!! i know mike myers is a huge fan but come on!! lol oh man ... i can't believe i wasted my time watching this ....oi!!

reply

Atleast they have won the cup many times. How many times have Vancouver won??? Oh yeah thats right NONE.......Wow did you ever make yourself look like an idiot.

I Love Movies...........Just not this movie.

reply

yeah, not to start a whole thing or whatever but last time i checked, the Canucks have ZERO Cups and it's just as easy for me to say they will never win as it is for someone to say the Leafs never will. As I'm writing this, the horrible Colorado Avalanche are beating the mighty Canucks 4-0. PLayoffs should be fun. oh, and you're from Vancouver so you're a Canucks fan? bravo.
This movie sucks but it's not like it was written by Darryl Sittler or whoever.

maple leafs are a hockey team for get together occasions. they never win and probably never will.

wtf man...I'm born and raised in toronto and I don't think you should speak for all of us...in fact the only funny moment in this movie was when I heard "and the toronto maple leafs win the stanley cup!" lol?

this movie was straight trash, but if you like canadian humour you've gotta watch 'Bon Cop, Bad Cop'...also about hockey, canada, and the quebecois, and about 10,000 times funnier.
