The Forgotten Ones... The Lost Tribe... HUH??!!

Okay, I've known films to be scrapped mid or even post production and re-edited or even remade, but I've never heard of one that was made then entirely remade months apart... and BOTH versions get released?

Am I wrong? Does this (Lance Henrickson!) version exist at all?

I just finished watching Jewel Staite in what I THOUGHT was a film called "The Tribe" (onscreen titles named it "The Forgotten Ones", actually a much better title IMO), and came here to comment... only to find out about this strange debacle of "the film was remade as The Lost Tribe"???

So, was Lance's version A) the "remake" and B) finished/released? Or was Jewel's the "remake" and the one released in the end?

In any case, since it SEEMS that the Jewel one was the original... why does the FAQ (and most posts here) say it was "never released" and yet I'VE SEEN IT?! Was it "leaked" or just given a non-US release and nobody knows any better?

The Jewel Staite version was the original, shot in Costa Rica. Originally called "The Tribe", which is now the "The Forgotten Ones". I believe that it was released overseas.

Lance was in the remake which was called "The Lost Tribe" while we were filming. It was filmed in Panama, and you can see a trailer for it at www.rebelfilm.com. I haven't been able to find out if/when its going to be released.

Now to make things even more confusing. IMDB has now combined yet a third movie into the page. The movie "Primal" is an Austrailan horror film that to my knowledge has nothing to do with the other two films except having the misfortune to be merged into the same page with "The Lost Tribe" by the people at IMDB.

The poster you see for the movie on this page is for "The Lost Tribe", but the trailers that are here are for the movie "Primal".

This is what I know, so hopefully it makes things a little less confusing for you

Thanks heaps... that makes a LOT more sense! I appreciate the explaination.

The Forgotten Ones was fun in an early 90's "straight to video" way... I mean that in a good way. Jewel was great in it, and unlike some folks it seems, I really liked the last 30 mins or so without dialog. The whole thing reminded me of the sometimes cheesy, but usually very honest and cool little Aliens/Predator inspired sci-fi/horror films I used to rent on VHS as a teenager... Dark Side of the Moon, Deep Star Six, Within the Rock, Xtro, etc.

While The Lost Tribe is technically a remake (the shortest original-to-remake ever, if you don't know the story! LOL!) I hope it's fun and different enough to be worth a go too, though I do wish Jewel was in it again.

Just saw a Primal trailer... indeed looks like The Forgotten Ones remake with a slightly higer budget. Hope Lance is in more than five minutes of it! :D

Oh, and by "we"... did you work on the movie(s)?

reply

Yes,

I worked on the remake in Panama with Lance, Emily Foxler, and Maxine Bahns

Don't forget about 'After Dusk They Come':

Primal is an $8000 bigfoot movie. I still don't know what the trailer shown here is for because it's not a bigfoot movie.

The forgotten ones and the lost tribe are almost exactly the same, just with a different cast. It was completely moronic and retarded to even re shoot with a new cast as both films are almost exactly the same. Whatever changes that were made(if any, I saw almost no difference besides cast)make absolutely no difference to the movie. Changes did not help the story in any way nor did it make it better. Actually, I think the changing of the cast made the movie worse. I like the original way better as the cast is much more believable and better actors, with the exception of Lance Henriksen, who has become a staple in the sci-fi horror genre.

This one is like a really bad remake of Congo with weaker acting and I say that as someone who didn't think Congo was good.

I actually really liked this movie. I know nothing about the original or how or why they remade it...I just found it on netflix instant queue and thought I'd give it a go. I like the story and thought the acting was surprisingly good. And I also really liked the cinematography. I have no idea what the budget was for the film but had just assumed it was lower budget. I was thoroughly surprised with the film, and the only real criticism is that there were aspects that were a little too similar to Predator!

Confirming that Lance Henriksen version exists and is out there in the market. just saw it. Infact, thats the only reason i saw it - Lance Hendriksen.
