Not quite. these are opinion pieces that basically point out the obvious that the movie was directionless, but likeable. And the target audience of kids missed the point in theaters because it was 3 hours long and a VERY talky.

The articles you linked to basically say give families a $5.00 bargain bin, or free cable price point. And the ability to watch this in a more comfortable and manageable place like at home on a couch and be able to pause this long movie. And since it's cheap or free they can watch multiple times and catch little nuances. the movie is finally able to get some respect.

It will never be the next Tron or Blade Runner. There will be no sequel, or even a reboot. there just simply isn't a big enough audience clamoring for speed racer. This movie was a crap shoot they were hoping to rope in fans of the original show and reintroduce it to a new generation. it failed there is no market for it.

Absolutely, all 3 fans posting back and forth with their socks on this one-page forum is indicative of its cult nature. Once it opens in Japan and recoups its budget there, it should garner even more global interest. Who knows, this forum could expand to 2 pages. It's only a matter of time before this is spoken in conversations alongside the likes of Blade Runner and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Perhaps even Iron Man 3.

Watched again after 2 years and still holds up well. Really great moments and heroics and good acting. Just deserved it cult status by these somewhat bigger named sites.

In honor of the IMDb boards being shut down Feb 13th. I'm bumping every thread that shut down the trolls here that spend too much time masturbating to anime they can't handle or process facts. This movie BOMBED. It will NEVER be a universally loved cult classic. in almost a decade, it's never achived anything more than being a $4 DVD in the bargain bin at a dollar store. haha. My greatest memory of here will be that I walk away knowing that i will FOREVER be right and President_Ackbar_Impeached will always be wrong. He'll always be mad that I win FOREVER!!!!!

My absolute favorite memory from here will always remember is how pathetically easy it was to non-stop slay you kiddie porn watching trolls with indisputable facts and watching you all freak out and circle jerk each other in attempting to troll me with non-sense and crybaby name calling all because you none of you had the intelligence to accept reality or discuss and dispute my facts with valid mature points.

It was always my pleasure you burst his bubble. If President_Ackbar_Impeached would have pulled his dick out little boys for a minute and checked in to the real world, he'd see Speed Racer is still a completely ignored and loathed failure nearly a decade later.
