Anybody that finds this entertaining obviously has issues

I mean really? What's so entertaining about it? Just because some talentless asswipe came out and pushed the boundaries with nothing to go with it. Stupid, boring, pointless...I could go on forever with words to describe this movie, but it's not worth it. Anybody that enjoys this, obviously admits to liking *beep* It's not abstract, it's not esoteric, it's nothing...not even slightly artsy. I'll just end it by saying, I wouldn't even use the dvd as a coaster.

u mad?

i lol'd audibly

EDIT: Also, you're wrong about this:

It's not abstract, it's not esoteric

It is both of these things, regardless of your opinion.

I think cult DVD's as a coaster is a great idea! Just hunt out the best title's you can find, plop them on your coffee table and let the discussions happen. Thanks!

Seriously though, GTFO. I don't think many people find this entertaining, it's a "movie" that's made to see how far you can go. Many people can stomach these kinds of films (they're fake........) and pride themselves on seeing the most disgusting things out there. So seeing SVD is like a point of pride to a lot of movie buffs. Just because you thought it was bad, doesn't mean those who watch it are idiots.

Yeah, I watch gore/shock *beep* and I found this trilogy to be pretty disgusting and hard to watch. You probably did too, you're just trying to seem HAWRDK00R to all the newbz.

Please provide the names of some of these hardcore films you speak of, the ones that supposedly make this look like a romantic comedy.

I'll answer honestly if I've seen them. Something tells me you're going to retread the same titles that get thrown around time and again around here...

Now that you explained yourself more I have a better understanding of what you meant. I was under the impression that you may have been like all the people that come around and boast about how they can handle anything and how tame everything is (even when it isn't).

As far as this particular trilogy, I must say that I was quite impressed with it for many reasons. I do think the inclusion of gallons of actual vomit adds something to the genre in terms of shock value, mainly because it sexualized and fetishized gore and vomit in a way I've never seen before.

The reason I have some respect the trilogy, or at least the first entry in particular, was because it was very careful and deliberate. It seemed like Valentine actually had a vision with what he was doing. Everything about it, particularly the editing and post-production effects, were very precise and meticulous. It would have been easy to just hold a camera and show people doing these horrible/yucky things, but he went about it in a very unique way. The story is nonsensical to the viewers but I get the feeling that it actually means something to him on a personal level and that he is able to get some sort of therapeutic release from making these movies. You may think I'm looking too much into it, and maybe I am, but these were the impressions that I got from it.

Cannibal Holocaust is definitely a must-mention, especially in its uncut form. And even thinking about the making of the movie, something just seems shady about it.

I'm glad you brought up the wave of baby/sex stuff in these films now. It seems that is the next extremity to resort to in these types of films. I wonder how far they will take this imagery before some sort of legal action will be taken.

Thanks for that list. There are a couple entries I haven't heard of that I will check out.

Some other movies that I found shocking:
Men Behind the Sun
Salo
In a Glass Cage
The Faces of Gore videos (not necessarily because of the images, but by the way the material is handled by the narrator and filmmaker)
And all the "bumsploitation" comps that have come out

A Serbian Film, SALO, and Cannibal Holocaust are the three films I tell so-called horror fans to watch before they start going on about being savants of horror. Ugh, noobs.

Nah, the movie isn't esoteric or abstract, despite what you say. It's just a movie for people who like grindcore music and like uber violent things so that they appear different and weird and deviant to everybody else to see who they can shock. Essentially you all just try way too hard to be different if you say you like this stuff. But I'm sure you guys are all out of ways to try to shock people because you're so super anti-establishment and hardc0re to the b0ne. So good luck with...uhhh...jerking off to vomit and calling a bloody porno movie "art" it'll get you far with well...nobody, cause no one cares anymore. You guys suck. Get a real taste in movies that have subtle art to it. As someone said before...Begotten and Eraserhead are great places to start. Quit trying to search for snuff movies on spankwire and pass them off as art.

Blasphemy!! How dare you mention those two masterpieces, especially Eraserhead, on a POS film like this within the same sentence!

Remember when the internet was actually fun before it got hijacked by Google?

reply

I don't have to find this film entertaining to watch it. i don't watch schockumentaries to be entertained.
