not that bad

when i walked into the theater (not being able to get the tickets for Spiderman 3)
my expectations were very low since i had read the reviews earlier and ever the grapevine indicated to steer clear of this film. But incidentally it was playing in the same multiplex where i went to watch Spider man 3. Now i have seen the film and i do strongly feel that its not as bad as it seems to be, it gets you hooked from the word go..it pace is good, and its also well acted in parts esp Shabbir Ahluwalia (who gets over his soap opera hammy acting and does a good job with whatever small part he gets)The film also makes use of lot of hand held camera and steady cam shots to give a very documentary feel to the action..and it was good to see Vivek Oberoi gettin back to the kind of role that suits him.
The places where film suffers is the music- the songs are forced and out of place and slows down the story, Tusshar Kapoor is terribly mis-casted and the flashback nerrative was not necessary..also towards the climax when all the gangsters are trapped inside a flat in Lokhandwala, they start to make phone calls to there families..which wasnt really needed..but otherwise its a 2 hours long fast paced film and it deserves to be watched once..trust me,this is better than Dhoom 2.

reply

agree totally. Dhoom 2 was utter garbage.

Look the reality is this film won't get much appreciation from film critics because it's not 3 hrs + with a love story and a lot of crying scenes. However its a mad movie and in my opinion the best of the year.

reply

i wont call it the best movie of the year..but yes its up there with the better releases we had these year..besides i dont really take critics very seriously, they have to make a living and what ever they write has a lowest common denominator called money attached to it..therefore the very meaning of critical appriciation is lost..do they even know a word called Critical Appriciation..Critics are meant not to take sides and just mention the pluses and minuses of film, while the methodically dissect a film..but the critics now a days just cant help themselves getting lost in giving stars to film..thats all they do..

I agree with aroop, becuase Dhoom 2 got a 4 out of 5 rating and when i saw i was like WTF and to me it was waste of two and a half hour of my life. People who are bashing at this movie just dont get it, becuase its only based on what people and witnesses saw that day, not supose to be accurate. People in india just want to be entertained so if you notice movie based on real events doesn not get the acclaimed award it deserves. People in india doesnt know quality they only know quantity. More good looking start you put into the movie the more money its going to make. Example Lakshya very suparb movie good acting wasnt even considered in best movie catagory.

i thought that this film was really good and i also liked dhoom 2, dhoom 2 was only meant to fun not a serious film the action and HR's acting was good even though the storyline wasn't great it was good enough

One of the best movies to come out this year alongside Guru and Bheja Fry. And certainly a billion times better than Dhoom 2

reply

i wont call Guru the best film ..but yes bheja fry was good, lets not forget 1971..thats according to me is the best film to come out this year..i am just telling my personal view, not considering how did a film do on the box office or what a critic had to say about it..Why i dont consider Guru is something we will discuss on message board for Guru..According to me(again its a personal opinion) top films that came out this year are as follows(not in any perticular order)
1. 1971
2. Metro
3. Risk (understood its a clinched plot but just watch Randeep hooda)
4. Just Married (a better Film than Honeymoon travels)
5. Namastey London(its funny,raw but funny)
6. Parzania (the film was made in 2005,but got released in india only in 2007)
7. Shootout at Lokhandwala

reply

ok i agree 1971 was a great movie

and im not saying shootout wasnt. but i got bored at times. this movie had ALOT of great potential. but apoorva didnt expand that to its true extent. it waz like one of those movies that you like but you dont understand why.

overall i liked it. but there could have been character developement, a look into shamsher, maya, buva, and MAYBe fattu's personal lives.

like in the summary of the movie on the back cover, it talks about how maya && khan's personal lives were destroyed by their careers, but there is no insight to that in the movie. thats was wat really iritated me.
