London filming

Has anyone managed to see the filming of any street scenes in London? Given the topic of homelessness, it's hard to imagine that this film would all be shot in studio.

It's a miracle, Miracle, I was going to ask the same question.
I sure would like to see some photos from this shoot.

Super! Thank you so much, Barney. He looks fantastic... happy, and very "Mark-ish."

Thanks very much! I swear, in some photos, when CF laughs like that, he looks about 2!

He is, as you say, a miracle...really!

I hope that this gets shown on BBC America or is released on DVD not long after airing on the BBC. It looks interesting. That CF is in it is icing on the cake.

Second, YEAH!!!! He has shaved! He is so gorgeous clean shaven. (MORE gorgeous rather, IMO)

Where is Swiss Cottage? And are they still filming there?

And if not what did you see being filmed?

Has anyone heard if this is going to be a mini-series shown over several days or just one two-hour TV movie?

He is a miracle . . . really.

reply

Cricket V,

I hope that it will be shown in the US or be able for sale on DVD.

I wrote to BBC America Viewer relations to ask them to please broadcast it in the US-as soon as possible.

I hope that they will. Maybe if they get more requests....ya nevah know!

Orlando Bloom and Colin Firth are expected to star in a new TV adaptation of hard-hitting 1966 film Cathy Come Home. The new BBC version is to mark the 40th anniversary of the original Ken Loach movie, which pricked Britain's conscience regarding the issue of homelessness. A spokeswoman says, "It feels timely to look at poverty and inequality in Britain today."

(This news article provided by World Entertainment News Network)

Obviously, this article is outdated. I think it was published in late May. But, I was surprised to learn that Orlando Bloom was at one time considering appearing in this movie. I wonder who replaces him in the current cast?
David Oyelowo?

I'm with you, mimac.
Yeah, everyone is thrilled that Colin has lots of work lined up, but if it's shown on British TV only, that doesn't satisfy us American fans!

reply

Not just American fans. I doubt if these Brit TV projects will be shown anywhere else in the world.

reply

It will be shown in Australia, we get most Brit TV projects either on our free to air station ABC or on cable UKtv. Sometimes we get them around the same time as Britain if it is high profile or else we have to wait a few months either way they end up here. Also we have ABC stores that stock all the BBC mini series and movies that are released on dvd.

reply

That's good that you know for sure.;-) We get a lot of Brit TV projects in the US as well, but not all, and I cannot say for sure that we'll get this one. This one seems so particular to London and Britain, that I have my doubts about a wider showing, especially outside the Commonwealth. There are so many US TV projects that are not shown outside the US, so it works the other way, too.

reply

I do believe this is a joint project with HBO and will be shown in episodic form on HBO, same as BBC. Don't know when though.

reply

There has been no mention of this being a joint project with HBO or episodic. Sounds like you've confused this with another program, as this is not a series or miniseries.
