What the heck happened???

This was scheduled for November 5th on BBC1. Someone then commented that it changed to December 17th. But IMDB.com completely took out any release date. I'm in California and was having to make lots of effort to work out how I was going to get my hands on this British TV movie and now we don't even know what is going on. Anyone with info on the expected broadcast date?? Thanks, Diane

No date as yet, but the BBC have issued a press release with intervuws with some of the actors and providing a further insight into what it's about:

Thanks jtheway, I saw that article/interview today. I'm so looking forward to this especially after reading what Colin had to say. I didn't know it was primarily improvised. I love that!

Born Equal is being shown to Bafta members in a couple of weeks so it's transmission can't be far away.

reply

Thanks for that new information, parkmate. I wish I were a BAFTA member! Please keep us posted as to the real BBC broadcast date if you find out. BBC America would be the best one for those of us in the US, but I won't hold my breath on that one for awhile. Thanks again!

If anyone is really really keen to see this in the UK you can buy a ticket for the Bafta screening for £ 10 if you go to their website.

reply

It's apparently due to be shown in the UK in the run up to Christmas - somewhere between the 16th and 22nd has been mentioned.

reply

It was scheduled for Sunday 5 Nov on BBC according to an article on Dominic Savage in 'the Daily Telegraph' magazine - when it wasn't broadcast or listed, I thought it odd. Glad to find out from fellow imdb users that it will be shown sometime in mid December.

Just saw BBC4's repeat of 'Cathy Come Home'. Forty years on and the same problems are blighting many unfortunate people. Well done Tony Blair, what a great socialist you are. Even Dave the Chameleon Cameron appears more 'red' than you are, not that I believe the Tories' Damasene conversion for one moment.

reply

I just went to the Bafta website and it says the screeings are only open for bafta members and no mention of tickets to buy.
Am I looking in the wrong place? Please help! :)

Nevermind! I've found it! :D (Although I can not go anyway.)

It's being aired on BBC2 at about 9pm on Sunday 17th.

reply

Just a correction for the above message; it's being screened on BBC 1 (at 9:oopm) this Sunday.

Just finished watching it - superb television

reply

complex, thought provoking, excellent acting

reply

sudden ending eh !!!

very true though, within the country or as a country you can think your safe in a ivory tower, but if you are letting some people sink into terrible situations, the world will be a bad place and it will eventually affect you

reply

I've also just finished watching it and thought it was absolutely superb. Another fantastic drama from the BBC and brillantly acted. Robert Carlyle was particularly good, what a great actor and he plays those sorts of parts so well doesn't he? What a real thought provoking drama, it's about time they showed a hard hitting drama such as this, one that's much more true to life than a lot of the crap they show on TV around this time of year. Unfortunately though I didn't manage to see the first half of it, does anyone know where I can watch it again? Don't suppose it will be out on video or anything?

reply

The only possibility is that it might be shown on BBC 3 or 4. I thought this was very thought provoking although i found the ending a bit predictable. Always a problem to know how to end a story well

I'm just here to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and i'm out of bubble gum...

I also missed some of this and managed to catch it again on "on demand" on cable. I've just checked and it's still showing, so if you know anybody that has this service, you can access it at any time- I think for up to a week after it's origional showing.

reply

Just to clarify, the On Demand is only for the people who were able to get it the first time around (BBC1 viewers), right? So we American's still aren't capable of getting it on our On Demand, right? I know this sounds to be a stupid question, but where Colin is concerned, I take NO chances! LOL.
