Why the low rating?

I guess I'll have to wait till it comes out, but the concept of the movie is very interesting, in my opinion. So where does it go wrong? Eva, the script, directing, what? I do want to go see this when it comes out in NL, does anyone feel the need to persuade me otherwise? ;)

Seriously though, is the criticism mainly about the concept (which I personally find interesting) or about the way it's used in the film?

The beginning is okay, the ending is intense but everything in between (more than half the film) is an incredible bore. It's not good satire nor good comedy.

Is this playing anywhere in the US at this time?

The concept was good, and it was certainly original enough. However, it was so boring until the actual show aired in the last half hour, it's tough to give it a high rating. The Bios of the potential contestants were way too long and drawn out. I found myself dozing off a few times. The Director should have used a shortened version of the Biographys for the actual show when it finally aired. It was almost like the Writer - Director ran out of script filler ideas and threw the long Bios in for lack of a better idea. The Film is actually lucky to have the rating it has.

its just not very good overall, only the ending and the actual show scenes are good

The ending is the worst part of the film. The part that everyone calls boring is actually the best part of the film. Maybe the show is more thrilling, but the most interesting part is what happens before, the road to creating the show. I have to admit it's pretty slow at times, but it did keep my attention.

About the rating, I think it doesn't deserve such a low rating. It's not a very good film, but no where near as bad as the rating might tell you.

I think there isn't a weak moment in the film.

The beginning is really good because it's a wacky idea that someone actually tries to go through with this. Good humour in it and it mocks the whole concept of realityshows really well. You get put in right into the productiontrail because the first two minutes already pitches the idea "People would watch Russian Rouletten on TV if they could".

The little biographies of the contestants are so great. Over the top, recognizable clips that are normally made to sympathise with them. Here they made it so crazy over-the-top that you can't help but laugh about them. Even Rick (Thats all I will say).

The first part of the movie is the production towards the show, reminds me of The Office (the show). Amateuristic camera, funny awkward bits.

The second part is the show itself. Its a complete turnaround, similar to how it got pulled off on The Blair Witch Project. The camera is set more proffesionally and instead of light humour you come to realize. Somebody might die... It's exciting and intense every time that gun goes against a contestants head.

Never got boring and 90 minutes is perfect for it.

Why the low rating? IMO, absolutely horrible acting, particularly from actress Eva Mendes (Katy). I'll watch just about anything, but this is unwatchable solely because of the terribly amateur acting. It's as though the actors were all chewing up the scenery to try to one-up each other on the set. They would all be better off on a soap opera. Ugh, this just makes me cringe.

Nothing was really wrong. Contestants were generic, not very interesting. Whole film gave the feeling of dragging alone. Worth watching.
