Wait, if the the first five contestants won, would the sixth guy have to
go through with it or not? They never pointed this out, did they?

Just finally decided to watch this movie on cable. Firstly, unbelievable (but not really), secondly you would statistically not take the sixth shot because you simply wouldn't survive. Period. Not if you have a six-shooter and the first five don't go off, the sixth will.
I listened to my heart. It told me to take the elevator.
I was wondering the same thing.
It would've been more believable if the rules stated that if they got through the first five, then all six would win.
Nobody (unless they had a death-wish, which is certainly possible*) would take the 6th shot if the previous five were blanks.
* Another interesting thought: What better way to commit suicide than to make yourself famous for "sacrificing" for your family in the hopes of getting $5M? If you truly wanted to kill yourself, you'd win either way.
The sixth guy would just walk away. No reason to kill himself for nothing. The movie copped out by not having the fifth guy win. If I know I am number six, I would be celebrating before the shooting started, because I know that I will not die, and I have a 17% chance of wining $5 Million.
shareInteresting point. Maybe what would happen is the first five get the checks and the sixth guy either goes home or gets another chance on the next show.
sharePer the game show yes the contestant would have to take the shot.
Otherwise the whole setup doesn't work.
I never admit or deny anything it makes me more interesting.
