The violence is mostly of an Indian Tribe that is massacred. There is no blood shown during the massacre, but there is a scene where several indians are forced to jump off a log into a ravine. There is also a choking scene and a beating involving the main characters. Most of these scenes are edited in a very choppy way, from a long shot, and in flashback scenes.

Most of the television dramas on tv today come across as more intense than this movie. I don't think anyone will have nightmares; but, the subject matter of massacre and child abuse is a serious one.
