I enjoyed it as well, definitely doesn't deserve some of the hatred. It was certainly not what I was expecting at all given the Anthony Hilcox movies I was familiar with. He did a great job on his end however, and aside from issues with the acting I thought it was all around solid. The visuals with the tree in particular I thought had a bit of a Del Toro/Pan's Labyrinth quality to it that I would have liked to see more of.
The story wasn't even half bad, as it was presented in a way that it would be a matter of shear guesswork to connect everything properly until the end. You knew characters would play a role(constant focus on the ring for example) but not exactly how they'd fit in when all was said and done.
Unfortunately I do agree with those who blast the acting, particularly of the leads. It was... bad. Very bad.
This is one of those movies where there is that instanteous-just-finished-watching outpouring of criticism on imdb, but at the end of the day there is a lot worse out there and those who proclaim the usual "worst movie ever" type statements have either short memories or simply haven't seen that many films. Knife Edge is a solid middle of the pack film, and people should remember that not everything can or should be a 10/10 5 star masterpiece of cinema or else it makes the true masterworks meaningless.
