I'm sorry, but 'Bet On It' makes me LMAO every time!

Was that scene supposed to be serious, because I can't help but laugh everytime I watch it.

Zac's acting was so melodramatic, I don't know WHAT that choreography was (if that even was choreography), Zac's dancing was just comical, and as someone said in another post, he was as orange as the mountains in the background-- can someone say "SPRAY TAN"???

No need to flame me or bite my head off. I'm just saying I hope that scene wasn't supposed to be all serious and groundbreaking, or like a showstopper or anything because if it was, it epically failed, lol.

Just my opinion.

You bring up a lot of good points. The scene was supposed to be serious.

I'm one of the few who actually recognizes this as a good scene for a *musical*. In my opinion the movements that Zac make show the emotions of the character and tell the song.

I will admit that the spray tan and the water reflection are two of the worst parts of the number. Other than that every other dance move has a purpose in it's relation to the song. Again, for me, as a song in a MUSICAL it works. If you go back and watch the movie again and take the song in the context of what had happened to that character up to that moment, and take into account that this is a musical and inner thoughts/ emotions are shown through dance, you might (or might not) see that.

Again, you bring up a lot of good and valid points. And please, don't take my comments as biting your head off.

You definitely didn't bite my head off. You were very civilized :) That's hard to find around chat boards nowadays.

Anyway, I know it was supposed to be a serious scene (I was being sarcastic, but sarcasm is hard to catch in writing, lol). I just thought it wasn't acted very well, and the choreography maybe would have been better relayed if someone, er, better was dancing them. I mean Zack is good, but he's not a real dancer.

I just thought so many aspects of it were just so laughable it's hard to take seriously.

'Stiff' is a good word that most people use.

Zac freely admits that he is not a natural dancer and for him to do a solo number was huge. I mean dancing in a group of people is totally different than dancing alone.

It is hard to take seriously, if you were trying to take it seriously from the begining as a viewer. I don't watch musicals with a very critical eye, because they aren't meant to be based on reality.

Again, purely from a musical standpoint, the number and dance do what they were supposed to and for me that's all I expect.

but seriously, LMFAO op i luv this movie, but i have to agree. i go into hysterics every time i see it. "Bet on It" is the WTF? moment of the entire film. I think he improvised most of it too...I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not. i'm surprised HE didn't crack up laughing while doing it! this was the most serious moment of the film besides "gotta go my own way" which is the irony of it. And YES he was SO orange during the HSM 2 days...oh how times have changed :) he's really grown up now which is great

reply

Odd...the Bet On It scene was great, the ONLY thing I like about all three movies. I can't stop listening to it. I love the whole dang scene ('cept for the reflection thing, but I can forgive it). The rest of the music, I hate so much.

My opinion. :)

As a peace offering, I suggest this very trippy video of the song in reverse. It changed my life.

I used to love that scene when the movie came out, but I recently re-watched it and couldn't stop laughing. Yeah, I see what you're getting at.

we actually watched it in choir at school just to laugh at it.

I agree, OP. My sisters and I like to watch that part just so we can have a good laugh. The moment when he stares into his water reflection is hilarious!

LMFAO

I watch this movie JUST for that scene! How did he do that with a straight face? He looked like Jackie chan spray tanned and drunk off his ass.

I'll always feel, no more than halfway real. Till I hear you sing once more

There's no need to apologize for it. The scene was supposed to be a epiphanic turmoil moment for Efron, yet the choreography is laughable, overdone and exaggerated. So of course it's a laughable moment.
