So what did y'all think?

Just came back from the US premiere of this movie at the ONfilm Festival, and I gotta say I liked it a lot! I recognized a lot from Belgium, because I grew up in the Netherlands, about 10 miles from the Belgium border.

The story was solid, generally speaking. However the constant use of the Dutch angle, was kinda frustrating towards the end. But I guess thats really subjective.

Also I found that the characters we're all very "real" and relatable to.

Definitely worth seeing!!

I thought it was a decent flick. Just caught it over here at the SFIFF. As many have said, I found the first half or so pretty slow and lacking focus, but it picked up from the car crash scene. The twists at the end got to be a little too much and far fetched for me, but I enjoyed the picture overall.

Are we supposed to accept the idea that Michel son's, who shares the same birthmark as Michel Quebecois father, is not an adoptive son? Or do you think the allusion is for the sake of the metaphore, saying that we are all related in the end? ... or it is an open ending, to make us wonder why?

?

I thought Jules (Michel's son) was, well, Michel's biological son. The dude in Connecticut was both Louis and Michel's biological father, thus Jules' grandfather.

Or are you referring to Jules' skin color? As it's darker than what we'd come to expect from a child whose parents are 'black' and 'white'?...

Thanks Medea347. I got confused and thought maybe Jules father was the guy in Connecticut with the birth mark who may have had an affair with Michaels wife. Duhhhh
