I know I know Baby Spoiler Alert

Decided to watch Burn on Hulu or Netflix sorry just sub both. However I want to like this series but honestly Fiona is just too much. Her character is so unbelievable it borders a bad telenovela actress. She ruins this series for me and his chain smoking mom with her non transfer long wear lipstick in the color melon rose grates my nerve too. Sorry I just needed to vent and get that out please forgive my rant

That's alright, we all have "itches"! ;)
I personally don't mind Fiona. Do I think she's 100% believable? No. But then again lots of things on television aren't. When it comes to her personality though, I've encountered people like her.. well.. minus the guns and C4, of course. But I wouldn't doubt that there are some crazy bitches with C4 out there. ;P Besides, I'm not entirely sure there's a lot of women out there who could (or would) keep up with a guy like Michael.
As for his mom, I never let lipsticks and cigarettes get on my nerves. I think Madeleine was the perfect character for a guy like Michael; she was feisty, nervous (always smoking), short-tempered, loving but felt abandoned when Michael took off, she obviously wasn't always the best mom to them when they were kids but she definitely made up for it later on! And mothers often have a tendency of getting on people's nerves, it's like force of nature - I'd be more surprised if they didn't. She would've felt out of place had she been a sweet little fragile woman baking cookies and knitting, on a show like Burn Notice, haha! :P

I agree BloodyMary, I loved Madeline!! She was the perfect foil for Michael's character. As you said, she wasn't the best mother. But I loved that as the series wore on and she really came to understand (somewhat) what Michael did while he was away.

The character of Fiona to me was that of a strong female lead. She was her own person and she could take care of herself. She even said it in an episode "sometimes you have to be your own white knight". I so loved the fact that she didn't expect anyone to bail her out.
I agree that scarcely 9 months after she would be living with someone. To me that is where Matt Nix and company really fell down on the show. It was terrible what they did to the character of Fi in the last season, and I am sure Gabrielle Anwar also had some misgivings as to what they did.I am sure Fi felt horribly betrayed by Micheal in the beginning, not knowing the real reason he went back to the agency. However once Strong told her, her charcter should have done what she has done all along help Micheal obtain his goal. I mean she almost blew herself up with him went to prison for him. To make her so unsympathetic to that was just wrong and Matt Nix should have not done that. For so long you wrote a great female charcter and then to do what you did was so disappointing. I do find the last two epsiodes did redeem himself with Fi , but should have happened a lot sooner. Fi and Micheal's relationship was one of the driving forces on this show and to be deprived of it for much of the season was probably one of the biggest mistakes on the show.
Madeline was a great charcter most of the time, I do feel at times the writers were not sure which way they wanted her to go, and sometimes she annoyed me, but for the most part she was another great female charcter, that they made weaker in the last season, what happened Matt Nix, different writers on the show. Did you lose some control of the show in the end?

I was not a huge fan of Fi the first 2 seasons really. But her character evolved, Anwar did a great job of showing a personailty of Fi, which was her strong passion. Yes at times she was over the top, but it fit with her strong emotions/passions, and she had scars and anger that she vented with agression and violence.

I do feel the writing for her character was the weakest of the main cast. It felt at times like the character was directed/guided by a guy, trying to think like a woman.

The last season her leaving Mike and even emotionally telling Carlos she loved him, was wreak writing. Didn't feel organic and was out of character for what we had seen from Fi throughout the series. But I understand why she was wrote that way. They had to pigenhole Mike into feeling he had lost everything, and had nothing left to live for. Otherwise, he would not have went all in with James and question which side he was on. This was what Anson/management/Carla tried to do to get Mike to join their operation with his Burn Notice.

All the mom did was constantly scream and constantly yell..ALL THE TIME! Not to mention smoking 24/7. The only quality that Phi had going for her was a great ASS! But Jesus Christ her answer to everything was shooting them, killing them, or blow them up. Her acting is horrible. And she always hit Michael or wanted to beat him up. After she broke up with Michael, the very day she was banging an EMT and she bragged to Michael about it. Numerous times she bang other guys and bragged about it to Mike..What aW hore! And the 1 time Mike slept with a different girl that Slut phi had the nerve to get mad at him? And said how could you?. He was in a coma and she kicks him to get him to wake up? Couldn't stand her at all?

Your point being? People are so used to seeing weak female characters now that need a man to take care of them and Fi was the exact opposite. So what if she liked to shoot stuff and blow it up? They were going after terrorists and serial killers so there isn't any reason to go lightly with them. Michael was a jackass to her plenty of times while abandoning her to fulfill his own needs what's wrong with him getting a taste of his own medicine? You clearly never understood the relationship they had.
