Nicole Kidman Look-a-Like

Doesn't Abbie look like Nicole Kidman? Except not as skinny. She has the same slanting eyes and upward eyebrows

reply

Naw. Sometimes I see a bit of Charlize Theron, but for the most part Abbie is unique.

reply

Yes! They have the same expressive and hauntingly beautiful eyes. But I think she reminded me mainly of Kidman in another Jane Campion film, The Portrait of a Lady.

I think eyes and eyebrows are where any similarities end.

Abbie's face: round
Nicole's face: much more elongated or "chinny"

Both are beautiful, but they're not likely to pass as sisters even. Then again, Nicole's face had been to the panelbeaters two or three times, so maybe they used to look like each other.

reply

In some angle, a chubby version of Nicole Kidman. Although, Abbie Cornish appeared more classy than Nicole Kidman who often over flirted in her motion sometimes, not that I mind.

reply

My Mom thought they looked exactly alike in this movie.

reply

And the awsome thing is that both of then are aussies too!

reply

Chubby? Apparently you don't live in the southern part of the U.S. to know what chubby looks like. Abbie Cornish is NOT chubby!

I think she's the saddest girl ever to hold a martini.

reply

I know, there are whales existed in parts of the world. I am not saying that Abbie Cornish is a whale. Being a whale is different from being chubby. You made it sounds like chubby is a bad thing. Compares to Nicole Kidman, Abbie Cornish is chubby. I think chubby girls are very cute, better than the skeletons we see on TV. I like Abbie Cornish, and she is very cute.

reply

I don't think that Abbie has a 'chubby' bone in her body...I suppose if you compare her with a skeleton, yes, she'd be chubby. I don't think Nicole Kidman is overly skinny but she is thin.

I think she's the saddest girl ever to hold a martini.

reply

Abbie Cornish is not chubby at all. But I noticed that she appeared to be in this movie. Hmmmmm. I think part of it was due to the costumes, hardly flattering styles. I think most of it was due to Keats being so ematiated. This is a very diminuative, skinny actor. I just saw him last night in "Brideshead Revisited" where he played a young man dying of alcoholism and I suspect his skinniness probably helped him land both roles. But what really struck me about Fannie in this picture, was her enormous feet. Again, probably due to dreadful styles of that time. But she looked as if she had those boots on her feet one wears when ones foot is broken. Huge and so very unflattering. And then those LONG black boots at the end when she goes into mourning. I thought that her feet couldn't possibly be that long. I kept waiting for a house to fall on her.

reply

She IS chubby!!!
And so what...
(I know you Americans are fat but she is still chubby)
Chubby Nicole Kidman. :)

reply

You are making an ASS out of yourself because you are ASSuming I'm fat when you have absolutely no idea what I look like. I weigh about 120 pounds which I guess if I was three feet tall that might make me fat. Also you're an ass because you're assuming I'm an American as well. Congrats for being a big fat *beep*

I think she's the saddest girl ever to hold a martini.

We are living in a world where celebrity women are described as "chubby" or "plump" if they are not rail-thin. The "scale" for describing women's bodies is horrendously skewed.

As a culture, North America would be healthier if we all spent less time evaluating women's bodies AT ALL. It's very scary that I've known women who are drop-dead gorgeous with very healthy and attractive figures, but they are obsessed with working out because they think they are fat. What does this atmosphere do to young women and girls who really are a little over weight? And you see these attitudes being constantly reinforced everywhere.

reply

I totally agree with everything you say. Also when it comes to celebrities when you consider the camera actually adds about 10 pounds, they're even smaller than they appear. Society puts way too much emphasis on what is seen as perfection when there's really no such thing!

I think she's the saddest girl ever to hold a martini.

reply

looks like a plump Charlize Theron.

I thought Cornish was the least attractive leading lady in a film that I've seen in at least a decade. I'm astounded that anyone would call Cornish an attractive looking woman. Interestingly, I'd just watched "The Others" before "Bright Star" and marvelled at just how beautiful Kidman is.

reply

Wow, a decade? These are the types of situations where I momentarily wonder whether I'm even thinking of the same film.

Dunno, Let's see Cornish do the 'Bad Bad Thing' scene from Eyes Wide Shut and I'll let you know.

reply

Cornish and Kidman? Similarities in looks. . .? Nope, not me! Accent, maybe (duh!), but looks, no. Actually, I think they're both beautiful in their own different ways.

reply

Don't get unreasonable now. Remember a lot of people would find Cornish more appealing than a face full of wax. But I agree that Cornish brings to mind pre-botox Kidman sometimes.

reply

I agree. I think a lot of the similarity comes from the fact that both women carry themselves with grace and have somewhat soft-spoken voices. Abbie resembles a young Nicole, when she first started out in Hollywood and had a few curves. She's quite waifish now. Watch "Far and Away" and then "Bright Star" and the resemblance is evident.
