wrong show for discovery

this show should be moved to the military channel and not on the discovery channel. every show on this channel deals with a realistic approach to increasing knowledge about this planet and it's people - then along comes future weapons - and all it's about is various ways to kill or maim people. sure it's showing weapons that may help troops better but most of these things are still in experimental scale or in small scale distribution, troops many of yet will likely never even see these things in their tours ( got a few friends in the army who say " when are we getting these").

this show is just a theater to show how wasteful the government is in it's spending coupled with pseudo-realism on the hosts part - a true insult to intelligent TV

Kindly remove the pole you have wedged when you insult him. It's kind of hard to understand you otherwise.

reply

this wasnt a post about insulting him - i dont like his methods - no biggie. instead this was about how this show doesnt belong on the discovery channel because it contradicts the implied purpose of the channel

you want your pole back - did you miss it?

reply

Sorry, it's just that when you said...

...it sounded as if you were another arrogant pacifist who thinks everyone interested in military hardware gets "boners over guns." The Discovery Channel is about discovering the world, and frankly, no one can discover the world better than the military.

Discovery Channel has always had shows about war on it. Years ago you would see it a lot more often.

Your forgetting that this channel also has shows on it about complete bullsh!t like ghosts, UFO's, and Bigfoot!!! Fock Bigfoot!!! Who gives a sh!t about him!!!

I'm all for shows about military assistance in war torn countries, or military aid in disaster areas, or a plethera of other things.. but I have to agree, a show purely about better ways to kill people, I don't really agree with.

Yes, the military has a primary job that (fortunately or unfortunately depending on your opinion!) involves providing security at the cost of lives of the enemy. (And sometimes their own.) BUT I don't think Discovery is the channel for displaying the destructive "toys" of the military. I'm happy they're able to protect themselves (and me!) better, but I'm not sure Discovery is the channel to tell me about it.

If the show had a wider focus of military duties, tools and tasks, I think it'd be a better fit.

I wouldn't mind having that shock suitcase thing being used on me, or perhaps that dazzling green laser thing.

That's a toughie, the howitzer tank with the auto load mechanism, they can fire like 7 shots from miles away and they would all hit me at he same time.

"no one can discover the world better than the military." WTF?????????? That's the most retarded thing I've heard so far today. Why don't you buy a passport, and get on a plane. You may find that you can discover a lot more if you shoot with a camera, not a rifle. And I'm not necessarily a pacifist; I know the military is sometimes needed to do a lot of nasty stuff. Just don't try to sound like a recruiting poster: "See the world, go on an adventure", when you get stuck in one tiny hell-hole for less pay than any of the politicians who send them.

It is on the Military Channel.

Discovery often shows its prime shows of their other networks on Discovery. They do this because not every cable company runs every station. So you will find shows from TLC, The Science Channel, the Military channel (Wings), Discovery Time, Discovery Home, or Discovery Health replayed on Discovery (Prime).

reply

I wish I got the Science and military channel.

I saw this wino, he was eating grapes. I was like, "Dude, you have to wait."

Strange, my Comcast OnDemand service provides it on the discovery channel, not the military channel; and I think I've seen it a few times on the vanilla discovery channel.

But I would agree with the first poster that at the very least the show should be moved to the military channel. This show is essentially propaganda - and by promoting Blackwater - probably shameless and amoral as well.
