we strike fear into the hearts of the enemy, we strike fear into the hearts of the enemy.. bla bla' the 15th time got a little redundant.. this show clearly is a psychological weapon against anyone trying to mess with the states. good plan. awesome show too
i may be mistaken, but i have only seen united states allies featured on this show (i.e. Britain and Israel), never an enemy or state with a shaky relationship. A good example of this would be Russia, which although it is techniquely(sp?) classified as a "friendly state" has begun to make new waves on the world stage with overly aggressive postering and rhetoric, as well as developing new weapon systems which i have heard are just as progressive as the united states. I have often in my paranoid musings wondered if this show is merely an elaborate "psy-ops" operation funded by the United states in order to scare others *beep* and its funny to me how much money, and man power is devoted to developing these new implaments of death in the face of much greater problems problems in the world (hunger, health care, etc..), but i guess im just one of those niave people that believes people have the capacity to care for one another rather than obliterate each other. i just wish i had beat the first poster to the point with this thread.
Well what do you want? You want him to cover the old Spetznaz switchblade-that-launches-a-knife trick? I'm not sure that Russia's actually come up with anything practical. Besides, a lot of the stuff featured on the show is meant as a counter-terrorist tool (like thea forementioned corner-shot). They have to find tools which are about a decade old, work properly, and aren't hidden by the government.
And why would this show be used as a fear tactic? People who want to know about American culture aren't going to watch the Discovery channel. Be realistic.
