I think this is the best show to come out in a long time, I got bored of the old WW2 episodes and Vietnam stuff in the Military channel, then this came out, I loved it, and it's also on the discovery channel. I have a question though, what's the name of that rifle/carbine that might replace the M16, shown in episode High tech weapons, or something like that, the episode were they show the smart cluster bomb used on tanks, and when they look at biological weapons.

shareI don't know if you're gonna read this, since your original post was two years ago, but the weapon most likely to replace the M-16/M-4 is the H&K 416. It uses most of the original M-16 parts but has the gas piston recoil system of the Kalashnikov. (Just looking at them the only way to tell them apart is the 416 has a bigger hand-guard.) This makes it more reliable under adverse conditions (less sensative to fouling), plus it's an easy and cheap upgrade of an already existing system. SOCOM is already beginning to issue these. Why spend a thousand bucks apiece for a whole new system when you can upgrade what you already have to state-of-the-art for seventy-five dollars?
