X-Play

I watched this show to see their review for Xenosaga III and all that Morgan Webb girl had to say was she couldn't comprehend the story, so she didn't like the game........................ Are you freaking kidding me! You mean you actually got on television and told the world your tiny brain couldn't understand a video game. Granted you may have to do some research to fully understand Xenosaga but, in my opinion, that makes the game all the more alluring.

Yeah,X-Play can be unfair sometimes.

To the best of my knowledge,I don't think Morgan even played the first two episodes,so having her do the review wasn't a good idea...then again,Adam wouldn't have done any better since he hates most RPGs.

I stopped watching X-Play after they brutalized Red Orchestra. Their review hinged entirely on them simply sucking at the game. And using that as an excuse to give it a bad review.

I thought that review was disastrous, though for other reasons.

1- I found the story quite easy to follow, but she didn't...Fine. My problem with this is that -- as evidence -- she/they cut up a lucid, coherent speech by Shion in a calculated effort to present it as "incoherent".

2- So Xenosaga 3 is "pretentious"...Okay. (On a certain level it probably is.) Why does she think this? Because the subtitle quotes the title of a work by Nietzsche? Is that the extent of it? The "undeniable proof"?

3- And "You spend more time watching than playing." This is a bald-faced lie (I was surprised how few cinematics there were here) -- unless "the reviewer" -- Webb or Smith -- only played for two/three hours; the beginning does have a lot of cut-scenes...but if that's as far as you've gotten, I don't know if you have the authority to be so dismissive towards a work -- and certainly not so smugly condescending.

But I don't worry about it...Instead here are two reviews which capture -- I think -- my own feelings for the game.

2- http://www.gamebrink.com/playstation-2/1041-Xenosaga_III-reviews.html

I'm glad to finally see this masterpiece get some high scores...!

To be fair, you spend a lot more time watching than playing when you have the interns do all the work. Though maybe she played this game like she did the second one, which is to say the first hour only.

Just another mall-witch. Move along please.

the reviews are obviously scripted. maybe that's not what morgan really thought of it.

reply

Um...you all realize that it's just a review right? I'm not defending Webb or X-Play or anything, but for 1) they only get a short amount of time to review the game; and 2) they focus more on making the reviews entertaining than covering all of their basis'.

Is "the story is too difficult to understand" a fair argument? Not really. But in the long run, it's a freaking review. It's her opinion so it's allowed to be whatever the hell she wants it to be. If you guys love the game, fine. But not everyone has to. As long as you have your copies and love them, isn't that good enough?

X-Play has always been VERY anti-RPG. The only RPG I've ever seen them give a good review to is Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. You should watch their Episode II review.

The Adam guy even said he cant stand JRPGs. Look him up on wikipedia. You can find a list of about 10 genres that he automatically gives low scores, just cuz they are his "pet peeves"

He can't stand JRPGs but he likes Kingdom Hearts? That's a JRPG
