Noise was crap!

I have waited along time to see this because my house was in the background of the movie & they decorated it with Christmas lights. Any way I am very disappointed in this movie. It got so many good reviews but it was $hit! I gave it to all my friends and family to watch & they agreed. The movie plot did not make sense at all. But at least i got a $100 voucher out of it for allowing my house to be apart of it. I just feel very let down!

love your chain of reasoning there...

Instead of telling me that you feel very important and famous now, could you please tell me why you didnt like the film?

reply

You can't reason with noobs unfortunately.

I don't need to explain WHY it was $hit! It just was!!! All you have to do is watch it & find out why!I mean for 1. The train was supposed to be in sunshine. Why did it say Lilydale on it? & the body that was found near a drain or creek- whatdoes that have to do with anything? And the guy that's not all there? What the *beep* did he have to do with it???
to complicated!

reply

Too complicated huh, Im sure there are plenty of less plot driven films around that would better suit your attention span. Try Horton hears a Who. Really, who cares if the train says Lilydale or Scumshine- you spotted it because you live there, i certainly didn't.

Excellent film.

I am sorry that you yourself did not enjoy the film but I, as well as many others, thought it was a great film. I am not going to get into a discussion about what you didn't like but I believe that it was well written, well directed and well acted. I just wish more Aussie movies were given a go as they have so much to offer the viewing public worldwide.

reply

I agree this is a wonderful film... I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, since I was expecting much when I rented it. This is a wonderful example of the perfect art house film. To those of you who did'nt like it, you should probably stick to formulaic blockbusters.

The train was supposed to be heading to Lilydale, the Caravan was set up in SCUMshine because of the last murder victim in the drain. This was the best Aussie film ive watched since Romper Stomper & Ground Zero. Was the movie a little to deep for you?, seeing your from the Western Suburbs maybe a Gang banger movie is more up your ally.
And if you have ever caught a train in Melbourne 1 train coming from Sunshine may be redirected at Flinders Street to go the opposite direction, this happens quite a lot.

I respect your opinion. Thanks for that. The others here replying to you seem to be taking your opinion extremely personally. They expose themselves and lead me to believe that they are likley invested in the film. They show a large degree of immaturity or childishness while dissing you for your opinion. If I need to be childish to appreciate this film, well then it sounds like something I wouldn't be interested in either now.
Thanks.

Mayhaps but the op hasn't given us any reason to explain why he doesn't like the film.

"It's always opening time in the Sailors Arms".

reply

I thought the movie was garbage because the acting was abomidable. I felt embarrassed to watch these people play their characters.

reply

well I dont know where to begin. I guess you cant enjoy all movies and this one turned out to be the latter AKA "WTF did i waste my last 2 hours of my life on???"
First of all the movie does start off interesting with the murder and all but as it progresses it seems to get more and more irrelevant. I had a very wrong idea of what this movie was about and that did make it worse. Right off the bat the characters just start talking, what about?? I don't know. As far as I know one cop has a problem with hearing and random incidents seem to happen. He has problems at work and at home but thats pretty much the obvious part of the movie. For the two hours, the movie went at a very slow pace and eventually put me to sleep. I watched the rest of it last night and I still couldn't finish it. Just finished it now and it probably is a totally different concept of a movie for me to fathom then it could just be that the movie sucks so bad that some people think that its too deep to understand.

reply

Yep - typical Australian film really. Some interesting concepts and even good imagery ideas and production values (for a change), but the concepts haven't been fleshed out into decent substance and end up lacking pace and clear direction and turn into boring melodrama.

I'd heard very good things about 'Noise'. I was disappointed to find, that at the end of the day it was simply another cop story, trying to be intriguing and cutting edge and failing miserably. Felt like I was watching a very long episode of Blue Heelers with better cinematography.

Why the FFC chose to finance a script about some random murders and an ambivalent cop with ringing in his ears who finally realises the murderer has been under his bored nose the whole time.... is a testament to why the Australian film industry still hasn't taken off the way that it should've. Are we really that short on fully developed, innovative, intelligent scripts that can actually boast (heaven forbid) an interesting idea??

Please - no more cops, no more high schools and definitely no more Aussie battlers. We're not all complete morons in OZ.

I enjoyed the movie alot personally.

Fortunately, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, whether they're a film critic or a street worker. And just because they don't like a certain movie doesn't mean that they're only fit to watch Horton Hears a Who...that's just stupid.
I completely agree with the OP; this movie blows. I kept wanting someone to turn on a freaking light, because the whole thing was so dark I could barely see what was going on. And the dialogue?? OMG...horrible. And thank God for closed captioning; that's the only way I could understand what anyone was saying. Everyone talked like they had a mouthful of mud.
All in all, a complete waste of time.

BIH Michael Jackson. The world is a little safer for kids now.

reply

I was just going to keep my opinion to myself about this "film" but some of the posters that chose to ridicule the OP gave me cause to put in my two cents worth.

This was a film that started off better than 95% of any thrillers that hits the screens. A killer has just taken out 6 or 7 people on a train. Unfortunately, the killer must have killed the film as well. It never developed much after that gonzo opening scene.

There were many problems with this flick. One of the problems, (imho), was the sound. I'm sure if one is from Australia, it probably wasn't hard to understand. But had the director taken a long range approach to the film and figured that just maybe it might be shown somewhere other than Australia and spent a few more dollars on proper sound engineering, maybe those of us that didn't care for the film might have been able to understand what the actors were saying. Grunts and groans never count.

To all you that were so offended by the OP's comments. Let's be honest, he was right and the film sucked.

I love a good Aussie film as well as the next guy. But this wasn't it. This film should be thrown on the barby'

As a sufferer of Tinnitus myself I could relate to this cop and the underlying stress that that continual sound makes in my ears. The moment he died and the noise stopped... finally. I broke down and cried. I've watched this film a few times and I love the atmosphere of it. It's not a simple movie, and it's not for simple people.

reply

Oh no it wasn't!
