A loophole in the ending? (spoiler)

Doesn't Eko survive? I mean, Otoha kills Eko's Karas form, but that wouldn't necessarily kill Eko, right?

When the first Karas in the very beginning dies in battle, he dies in real life. But he dies because his soul is tied up in his Karas form, because of the bond between him and his Yurine.

But Eko's soul isn't being kept by his Yurine. Eko took control of his own soul, so he could survive without his Yurine. So wouldn't Eko's soul live on, even if his Karas form was defeated? Especially if Eko's real body was hidden away somewhere the whole movie, removed from danger (which I think we can assume it was).

This may also explain the short scene after the credits with Eko's leg still working.

I don't think the movie meant to have Eko's death veiled in ambiguity. Rather, with Eko's last words, we're meant to wonder whether Otoha will eventually follow the same path.
