Will channel 7 ruin it?

For those who don't know... Channel 7 has nicked the rights to the show and will be airing season 4 instead of Channel 10.

My question is, will changing networks lower the show's quality?

I've just been thinking that for the example, would Hamish and Ryan Shelton's attachment to Rove/Channel 10 prevent them from appearing in the new season? I for one would miss Hamish's appearances.

Also, I know I've read a few people here would really like the Chaser boys to appear on the show. Frankly, that'll be impossible with Channel 7 - considering the network has a vendetta against them.

Finally, Channel 10 seem to have a better relationship with comedy (good news week, melbourne comedy gala, rove etc..) and were able to get fantastic international and local stand up comedians to appear on the show. I'm just a bit worried that we're going to get wankers like Kochie appearing on season 4.

It's probably my hate for channel 7 that has influenced this post so I'm just wondering what other people think? :)

I just read about this

And my first reaction was 'Oh, no. Now the show's gonna suck'. I really hope it does as well on 7 as it did on 10, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I can see exactly where you're coming from here. And you can also say that 7 have somewhat of a bad relatoinship with comedy. All the sketch shows they tried to get off the ground didn't even make one season. Not to mention Kath and Kim (it got worse IMO).

Channel 7 will make it even bigger than what it is, considering the network has been number 1 in the ratings for a second consecutive year.

They have stacks more money than Channel 10.

Everyone was worried about the defection of the Australian Kath and Kim series to 7, and it secured even more numbers.

Yes, I'm worried 7 will use this show as a "cross promotion pad" for their existing "stars" like Kochie.

We'll see what happens, but I know the f----u_____cking useless Nine Network executive David Gyngell must be breathing into a brown paper bag right now.

Hamish and Andy were only on Sunrise (a 7 show) a week ago. I don't think it'd change too much. I think it'll probably be a lot more successful as some places (like Griffith, NSW - where I live) don't get 10 and it'll be great!

I don't really care, as long as they can get some of the same people who appeared in the other seasons.

I'm just happy it's not on 9...they'd probably put it on at 10:30 like they're doing with Gossip Girl.lol

Lets hope that Channel 7, with all their money, can splash out on a few more international guests - such as Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie, Brad Sherwood, Wayne Brady, Chip Esten, Greg Proops, etc - all from Whose Line Is It Anyway - the show that relegates TGYH to 2nd spot in All-Time great Improv shows. If they get Colin and Brad to appear, then they might bring their stage show for a tour around Australia while they are here. One can only hope....

For sure. Channel 7 has the least amount of good quality Australian content. 9 has the most, followed by 10 (excluding ABC and SBS). If you included them ABC would be at the top. Do 7 even have any comedy productions? Actually I dont think there is much good comedy on TV at the moment.
Five of my favorite shows I watched were from ABC last year or before. The Gruin Transfer (returning march 14th), Chaser (returning sometime), The Glass House and last years Small Business and that show mocking the running of the Parliament House.

A tour of whose line to Australia - I second that I recently watched the Drew Carey's Green Show and that just got me wanting more. However I dont think the TGYH good handle the talent of Whose Line Members. One or two members but not all. The crowd would want more and it will loose its Australian feel with australian actors/comedians like Josh Lawson, Hamish Blake and others.

Just watched clips from US TGYH. Man does it suck. Amateurs. Tom Green was a bloody Wacker - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhM7ZGGaXyI

As long as they avoid cross promoting other shows too much, it should still be good. Please, no guest stars from Sunrise, Home & Away, It takes Two, Dancing with the Stars, etc. Only put real comedians on the show!!

So far so good...
