Should be available on DVD!

Of course, they'll have to rename it, due to the fact that it only contains the first two films, and present it in WIDESCREEN! I'd totally buy it.

I'd buy it too, only in widescreen of course.

Certainly agree, they should release it on DVD

Dead right! Saw this once in complete VHS version at a charity shop but I was jobless at the time and didn't even have the fiver they were asking! Nonetheless the only version of The Godfather i ever intend to buy is this 'chronological' one, if they ever put it out on disc, because it was just the best version. But iff they try and add Part 3 to it, the deal's off!

reply

Def. should be on DVD...it was on Bravo yesterday...u can spend the whole day watching this stuff...plus all the deleted scenes!! Please put the "saga" on DVD!!

reply

Just saw that the version I bought: the Godfather the epic is available on VHS on Amazon. When I got a cheap DVD/Video recorder I tried making a back up copy on to DVD and it worked. I do prefer this verion to the original films, as there's the extra scenes which work really well, especially the early years stuff!

reply

Yeah, The Godfather 'Saga' version is the best because of all the reinstated deleted scenes. Although other versions might have the deleted scenes 'included', they're not in the context of the film as the Saga. Plus, the Saga version is just Parts 1 & 2, omitting the lame Part 3.

The Saga is the only DVD version I'll ever buy (if it ever comes out).

if it comes out on dvd, godfather 111 should be an option on it, i didn't think godfather 111 was as bad as everyone says!

I come here to chew gum and kick ass I'm all out of gum!

reply

Godfather 111? Wow, they made 110 sequels? Must be the longest-running franchise of all time! Or did you mean Godfather III?

reply

Well, it was released on LD as The Godfather 1901-1959 The Epic. It's on eBay semi-frequently for 50-60 bucks.

Maybe you should just buy the original films on DVD (or Blu-ray)? That would also work since this is just a reedit of the first two films for television. This is not needed much for home video if you can have the films right at your fingertips, which is something people did not have in the 1970s.

reply

Yes it's a re-edit of the first two films, but it has an additional 75 minutes of footage included in the edit.
