Subtitled.... and I'm no francais major, but I think they left quite a bit out of the translation. Interesting film. and whose picture is that they zoomed in on in the study? camera stayed on it for a while.

Funny how at one point K.L. claims to despise material things, and then walks in the door with about 200 shopping bags in their arms.

the picture is jacques de bascher... the man was pretty much the love of his life, and though their romantic relationship ended after several years, the man remained an important force in karl's life till his death to aids i believe

Yes! He does look like Lee Marvin. The same expressive, wary and sensitive face like Marvin had.

I'm not surprised he wears sunglasses to keep people at a distance.
