Who is the Narrator

He sounds like a cross between Shatner and Nimoy. I know it's not Nimoy, so is it Shatner?

The guy's name is James Naughton

I just finished watching on HBO and the narrator credit was James Naughton.

That's correct. James Naughton. Well known broadway actor. Hell of a singing voice & very distinctive speaking voice. He's done scads of TV shows as well.
