When Timmy realised his mistake

At the end, when Timmy realises that he made a mistake in thinking that Harvey was a pedophile, why didn't he tell him mum? If Timmy was so sorry, why did he let his would-be-future-dad leave for Israel and let his mum continue to believe he was a pedophile?
