I'm halfway through the movie and wondering why andy is in it. Thank you for posting this. Todd Solondz doesn't like making sense sometimes.

WAIT SORRY, it does make sense. Andy shows up in Joy's dream. Whenever there aren't a lot of people around (where there should be) it's a dream. Todd Solondz does it in almost every movie.
