I need 2 questions answered!

My most recent watch of this film was a few weeks ago at like 2 in the morning, so bear with me.

1. Why does Makoto almost drown in the bathtub?
That seems like something so difficult to do for a high schooler that it must be in there for a purpose other than to show she's "unlucky," to paraphrase her own assessment.

2. Makoto has a flashback to moments with her friends -- is it just me, or in some, have their uniforms changed to include black jackets?
Maybe I'm recalling this wrong! I don't remember when the montage happens, but the black jackets are crucial because when the camera zooms into the photo in Auntie Witch's office, the kids are wearing them. It could be a clue!

1. Her mind was preoccupied on one thing and when you are in the bath you do sometimes go under a little, it was just so she could see the mark on her arm really

2. The black jackets are the winter/autumn clothes and in the summer especially they wear a white shirt since it gets extremely hot in Japan
