Defending Diddy

i think that the people who dislike p. Diddy's performance are just too arrogant to let go of his overhyped media personality. I don't care for his 'music' and , yes, I did squirm when I heard he was going to be in 'A Raisin in the Sun.'
Then, when I watched his performance, I found he was really good! Contrary to the other message board topics, he did not overact or give an underwhelming performance. He showed us what Wslter Lee Younger was: a desperate black man who is trying to make a better life. p. diddy was spiteful when Walter needed to be spiteful, he was compassionate when Walter needed to be, and you could see Walter Lee's desperation.
Those other posts that say otherwise are just there because some people just want to sound like they know about character development and films in general. they get so caughtup in themselves that they forget to just enjoy the movie.

plus, the people who didn't like Diddy's performance probably love Kevin Costner in every film he has ruined. Enough said about their taste.

ohh that last line is going get me flaaaaaaaamed.

I dont get it either. I thought he was great. He wasnt outstanding but he was NOT bad at all. I honestly think the people bashing his acting never liked him from the beginning. I dont blame them I think he is an arrogant asswipe too but I cant let that sway my judgement. He was very good here.

I too was impressed with his performance. I don't know much about his musical life but I did see him a few times on a reality show a few years ago. I agree with WichitaFalls assessment of his performance. The role of Walter Lee was totally out of character for Diddy and he pulled it off. I enjoyed the original, however I thought Poitier was a bit over the top in his performance. This may be due to the fact he was in the original play and stage actors sometimes overact.
