Possible Release Date?!?!

How soon might this movie been released, and will it be an "Indie" type feature or a Box Office film? I ask, as I am a fan of one of the actors in it (Steven Marcus) and wanted to know more about when to expect this one. I realize it's just reaching post-production and says 2007, so I'm guessing it could be awhile...:@ )

It will probably show up at one of the main festivals (Sundance, Cannes, Toronto, Tribeca). It will get a small theatre release probably depending on if they get distribution or not.

Does that mean it might go straight to DVD? I keep looking for it in the theatres. What's happening with it?

The filmmakers got no legal rights from any of the estates to make it and the estates are hopping mad. If they ever see this bogus film seeing daylight they will crush it or take it over. No distributor will ever buy it knowing the filmmakers never got any legal rights. California in particular has very stroing laws protecting estates from unauthorized use of celebrity personalities.

i heard the same rumor as imdb-10813. I want to see this flick bad but it does seem a tad suspect that the same thing is being said by many in addition to the fact that there's no release date... or any clue of one... and who wouldn't want to distribute this movie?!? (if not for legal issues). it seems to me that it'd be a huge indie cash cow. I really hope what imdb-10813 and others are saying is wrong but until someone legit posts something saying otherwise... i really don't know what to think.... i also really hope from a huge cassady fan's standpoint that this movie doesnt really frickin piss me off... like its sooo very capable of doing. so help me, if further is lame...

Its alright Ma, its life and life only

Five months later, still no release date. No mention of it being released by ANY distribution houses or studios. As far as I can tell, it hasn't even been invited to any major film festivals.

Looks like the rumor is true.

Or you could just invite us to live in your world of hoping & make-believe were everything is just what you want, and ONLY what you want.

this is exactly how totally fallacious rumors--on or off the internet--keep breathing long after they should have died. because you've heard the same nonsense from more than one person or post, or even if from hundreds of them, lends NO additional credibility to the rumor. evidence might, but repetition is not evidence.
there is no indication whatsoever that there are legal problems with this film. in general, unless you intend to use actual, substantial quotations from the created or performed 'art' of another, you can do what you want with his or her history, biographical info, whatever. otherwise there would be no biographies at all except 'authorized' biographies, and almost no historical or political writing, either--and certainly no 'unauthorized' biographies of living persons. even in those cases, suits are brought occasionally, but almost never succeed if the person is at all a 'public' person.

no telling how this rumor got started, but 10813's overconfident attitude, and citizengayne's or other's repetition of it, does not make it any more true.

i for one want to see this movie and am frustrated that it seems not to be getting picked up by any distributor. this was a key moment in our cultural history. the story should be told.

as of right now (june 2008) the film is available for 24 hour rental on the IFC channels "on demand" option

Fact is I never heard of the film until I saw it listed.
